6 Nations Betting Predictions: Round Four

Surely, this will be the weekend that determines the Six Nations 2023 winner. With these odds in mind, here are our Six Nations Round 4 tips ahead of this all-important weekend:

Italy vs Wales Prediction and Betting Preview

The weekend’s action kicks off with what should be a bitter arm wrestle of a match. Both Italy and Wales are winless in the 2023 Six Nations and are out of contention for the title with two matches to go. However, that’s not to say there isn’t anything on the line here.

Both teams will be desperate to avoid the wooden spoon this year. Italy have received it 17 of the 23 times they’ve played in the Six Nations, but are amuch-improvedd side this year. Against the World No.1 and No.2 teams over the past month, they’ve taken the game to the last ten minutes and been within a score of winning. They’ll be desperate to win against Wales and not finish last on the ladder, so they have something for their efforts.

Wales, on the other hand, have had a miserable tournament. They’ve been thoroughly beaten, by 24, 28 and 10 points respectively. Even the recall of whizz coach Warren Gatland hasn’t changed the equation, with the Welsh unable to buy a win. They’ll be hard-pressed to do so in Rome against a confident Italian side that won this fixture 12 months ago.

Our prediction: Italy to beat Wales @ 2.20 (6/5).

England vs France Prediction and Betting Preview

The rugby action on Saturday will continue with a cracking match between England and France. Both sides are 2-1 so far this Six Nations, with England losing to Scotland in the opening round and France failing to continue their winning streak against Ireland in Dublin last month.

This match is about as tight as it gets, as the odds indicate. Both sides will be highly motivated – the winner still has a shot at winning the Six Nations, particularly England, who will play Ireland in their final round. France have arguably been playing the better rugby the past month, while England have been steadily improving under their new coach.

Home advantage favors England, which should be significant, but we think the French will just have that extra 1% required to win this match.

Our prediction: France to beat England @ 1.67 (4/6)

Scotland vs Ireland Prediction and Betting Preview

Will Round Four finish with an upset? France and England will certainly be hoping so as Ireland travel to Edinburgh to take on Scotland.

Scotland have punched above their weight so far this tournament, defeating England at Twickenham before backing up against Wales in Round Two. However, their loss to France last round has made this a must-win match if they are to have any chance at the title this year. Ireland, on the other hand, have been impressive, defeating Wales, France, and Italy in their three outings and scoring 30+ points across each.

We say this will be a mighty contest, with Scotland throwing the kitchen sink at their rivals across the ditch, but the men in green will get the job done after 80 minutes.

Our prediction: Ireland to beat Scotland @ 1.36 (4/11)

Overall Six Nations 2023 Odds

After three rounds of Six Nations action, two teams have already fallen out of contention in the outright betting odds. However, there are still four horses left in this race, with the outright winner odds ahead of Round Four looking like this:

  • Ireland to win @ 1.11 (1/9)
  • Scotland to win @ 9.00 (8/1)
  • England to win @ 26.00 (25/1)
  • France to win @ 26.00 (25/1)

The bookies are clear in their predictions: Ireland already have one hand on the trophy. It would take an impressive performance from another team over the next two weeks to break that hold and require Ireland to stumble significantly as well. If you were to wager on a dark horse, however, Scotland are still the best bet at 9.00 (8/1).

  • Italy to Beat Wales @ 2.20 (6/5)
  • Scotland to Win @ 9.00 (8/1)

Fast forward 72 hours, and we may well know who the winner of the Six Nations 2023 is. Will it be Ireland? The bookies certainly think so, but with Scotland hosting the Men in Green this weekend, can they spoil the party and make their own run at the title? Tune in to Round Four to find out how this competition plays out over the coming days, and stick to our rugby predictions if you want to get even more joy.
