6 Nations Betting Predictions: Round Two

Chances are, this will be the week teams look back on that decided the 2023 Six Nations winner. With that in mind, here are our Six Nations Round 2 tips ahead of this all-important weekend:

Ireland vs France Prediction and Betting Preview

Round Two begins with what could be the match of the tournament, as France travels to Dublin to take on Ireland.

Ireland are the strong rugby 6 Nations betting 2023 favorites, and come into this match off the back of a dominant performance in Cardiff last weekend, beating Wales 34-10. France, on the other hand, were scratchy against Italy, only sealing the match in the last ten minutes with a try to win 29-24. However, Les Blues are on a 13-match winning streak, having not lost a game in the past 12 months. France have also won the last three games between these two sides, including in Dublin in 2021.

It’s hardly an upset, but we suggest going against the bookies and backing France to win against Ireland here. They have lucrative odds of 3.00 (2/1) and plenty going in their favor – a hot winning streak, recent wins against Ireland, and less pressure after last week’s performance.

Our prediction: France to beat Ireland @ 3.00 (2/1).

Scotland vs Wales Prediction and Betting Preview

Scotland were impressive last week, just like we expected, blowing England out of the water in their own fortress 29-23. Wales, on the other hand, were abysmal, leaking a point-a-minute for the first 20 of their match against Ireland and ultimately going down 34-10.

The result has put Scotland as a heavy favorite to beat Wales in Edinburgh this Saturday. While the Scots should win this match, we believe the bookies’ odds are a little out here. Since 2003, Wales have beaten Scotland 23 times in the 26 matches they’ve played. Admittedly, Scotland’s last win did come in 2020; however, there’s no escaping the fact that Wales have had Scotland’s number for the past two decades.

Wales may have lost by 24 points last weekend, but they did keep the second-half score to 7-7. We expect this will be a hard-fought, low-scoring slog, which sees Scotland scrape home by the skin of their teeth.

Our prediction: Scotland to beat Wales @ 1.36 (4/11).

England vs Italy Prediction and Betting Preview

Bookies are picking that this match will be a blowout, and we agree, but six nations betting already showed that risking makes sense in 2023.

England weren’t good enough last week against a fired-up Scottish side but they also weren’t terrible. They went down by six points in front of a home crowd and will be motivated to do better for their fans and a new coach. Italy, on the other hand, lost to France – but gained the respect of rugby fans around the world by punching above their weight and making a close game against the defending champions.

This week, our England vs Italy rugby prediction is that England will be much more passionate, while Italy will be a little deflated after coming so close yet still losing last week. Sadly, this could easily be a 20+ score line, with Italy’s big moment in the sun short-lived. Even bookmakers in Italy don’t believe in their side as it has never beaten England in rugby, and we don’t see that changing this weekend.

Our prediction: England to beat Italy @ 1.09 (1/11)

Six Nations 2023 Odds to Win: Changes Analysis

After just one round of the 2023 Six Nations Championship, the outright winner odds have shifted significantly. Ireland have extended their lead in the rugby betting odds after their comprehensive win against Wales, while France remain in second place but have dropped courtesy of their unconvincing victory against Italy.

Here’s what the odds to win outright the Six Nations look like ahead of Round 2:

  • Ireland to win @ 1.57 (4/7)
  • France to win @ 3.75 (11/4)
  • Scotland to win @ 7.00 (6/1)
  • England to win @ 17.00 (16/1)
  • Wales to win @ 67.00 (66/1)
  • Italy to win @ 151.00 (150/1)

The big movements in betting odds have occurred off the back of Scotland beating England last week. Scotland moved into the third favorite to win the tournament at 7.00 (6/1), a huge jump from their earlier odds of 23.00 (22/1).

Conversely, England slipped to 17.00 (16/1), falling from 5.00 (4/1) before the competition began. Wales have also slipped, going from 11.00 (10/1) to win the tournament to 67.00 (66/1), while Italy have technically made the biggest improvement, going from 501.00 (500/1) to 151.00 (150/1) after their gritty loss to France.

It’s hard to go past through the 2023 Six Nations predictions with Ireland winning the silverware, but if you were to wager on a dark horse, Scotland are looking good at 7.00 (6/1) right now.

  • Scotland to win @ 7.00 (6/1)
  • France to beat Ireland @ 3.00 (2/1)

This round will reveal it all in the 2023 Six Nations. Can Ireland put one hand on the trophy with a win over France? Will Scotland maintain their current momentum? Can Italy remain competitive two weeks in a row? We say this weekend will see another upset, and it may well be Les Blues across the ditch in Ireland, which could open up the door for Scotland to go top of the table. Tune in on Saturday to see if these 2023 rugby betting tips come to fruition.
