The ice hockey fans have been enjoying such an entertaining NHL season so far. The regular season is set to end on April 18, with the playoffs starting just a few days later. The Vegas Golden Knights are the defending champions, while the Edmonton Oilers are the favorites to win the 23/24 NHL Stanley Cup.
Seven teams from each conference in the NHL 2023/24 standings are very close to clinching playoff spots, but the last spot is still up for grabs. In the Eastern Conference, the New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals will try to steal the last spot from the Philadelphia Flyers, with the latter being the closest to finishing higher than them.
The Western Conference is a mess so far, as a lot of teams still have good chances of qualifying. The Nashville Predators are the closest to getting the last playoff spot, but the Minnesota Wild, Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames, and the St. Louis Blues all still have decent chances.

The Edmonton Oilers are our predicted team to win the title since day one, as in our NHL 2023–24 season overview and predictions. They have two of the best players in the league, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, so they will have good winning chances. The Boston Bruins broke the record for the most points in the regular season last year with 135 points. They are still pretty strong and will try to recover from last year’s playoff failure.
The Colorado Avalanche have one of the best offenses in the league, as Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon have been in great form this season. They still need to improve defensively for them to win the Stanley Cup. The New York Rangers are currently at the top of the Eastern Conference. Artemi Panarin has led the team to a 10-game winning streak recently, and they are expected to be one of the big contenders for the playoffs.
