English Premier League 2022/23 Relegation Predictions

English Premier League 2022/23 Relegation Betting Tips and Predictions

BetZillion brings you a betting preview of the 2022/23 Premier League season with expert EPL betting tips with top odds courtesy of the top-rated bookmakers.

The 31st season of the Premier League season kicks off on Friday, August 5, with the first round of matches when the top English football clubs begin their journey toward the coveted trophy. Like any season before, all clubs will hope they can go all the way and finish the season as the EPL champions, but there can only be one winner, while for the rest, there’s always next season.

Even though most of the clubs’ main goal is winning the league, a handful of teams have much lower expectations for the 2022/23 season. Whether it’s a lack of talent, budget, or any other reason, many teams will be satisfied if they stay up and avoid relegation into the Championship. Unfortunately, even that won’t be achievable for three EPL clubs.

This EPL betting preview won’t focus on predicting who will win the league. Instead, we’ll turn our attention to the other side of the table, the English Premier League relegation odds for 2022/23, and try to answer the burning question of which three clubs will find themselves competing in the second division of the English football system.

Premier League Relegation Odds 2022/23 – Bookmakers’ Favourites

The odds on Premier League relegation in 2023 are out, and according to the bookmakers, six EPL teams will struggle to stay up this season. Bournemouth stands out as the most likely team to drop by the end of the year, but knowing that three teams will be relegated by the end of the year, The Cherries can at least expect to get some company in the Championship next year.

Bournemouth – 2/5

Bournemouth might be the weakest Premier League team heading into the next season, and there is little to suggest otherwise. Priced as low as 2/5 on the relegation odds in Premier League 2022/23 markets, Bournemouth is a team everyone expects to fall, and there are good reasons for that.

The lack of big signings might be the biggest, as Bournemouth isn’t cut out to compete with the top English teams. There is a world where Bournemouth perform better than expected, but even then, they’ll need to overcome tough opposition at the bottom of the table.

Nottingham Forest – 5/4

Nottingham Forest is the second-favourites in the race no one wants to win, but we would argue that Nottm Forest is much better than what the public perception would lead you to believe. Many people will want to add this club to their Premier League relegation predictions 2023 sheet, but we will go the opposite way.

The club looks much better than most other bottom feeders; granted, we wouldn’t rank them in the top 15. With Steve Cooper at the helm, everything is possible, and there is no denying that Nottm Forest is trending in the right direction. Priced at 5/4 on William Hill, Sky Bet and other bookmakers, Nottm Forest might look like one of the obvious UK bets on the relegation market. But there are other, weaker teams worth checking out.

Fulham – 5/4

Interestingly, Fulham is priced at the same PL odds to be relegated as Nottm Forest, but that seems too high in our book. Fulham topped the Championship last term, but their relegations in 2019 and 2021 have made the Cottages very wary.

Joao Palhinha is a great addition to the team, but Fulham also lost Fabio Carvalho to Liverpool, so overall, the team has downgraded. Besides that, Fulham enters the new season with Marco Silva, who has a lot to prove following his underwhelming spells at Hull and Everton. Overall, things aren’t looking too good for Fulham and their chances to stay up.

Leeds – 9/4

Moving down the list of odds on Premier League relegation 2023, we have Leeds, who are priced at 9/4 to go down next term, which makes sense considering they’ve stayed up by just three points the last term. Perhaps the controversial signing of Jesse Marsch is something many fans will never forgive Leeds’ owners for, but at least it helped the team remain in the top league.

And we wouldn’t be surprised if they remain in the EPL for one more year. Many 2022/23 PL relegation betting tips will tell you to bet on Leeds going down due to their poor showing last season, but this club looks much better ahead of this term. Leeds used its money wisely during the offseason, and as long as key players can avoid injuries, predicting Leeds to stay up instead might be a better choice. The latter bet offer is quite good, considering Leeds is better than at least the bottom 4 teams.

Brentford – 12/5

Priced at 12/5, Brentford is the fifth-most likely team to get relegated according to 2022/23 EPL relegation odds, but we consider that to be very optimistic. Admittedly, Brentford did superbly last season and stayed up with some to spear, but betting on them to get relegated this season is like finding free bets.

The loss of Christian Eriksen is a huge blow to the team and the Bee’s style of play, allowing them to remain competitive. They no longer have that factor that allowed them to surprise some of the top EPL teams; without that, Brentford will struggle.

On a more positive note, signing Ben Mee was a smart choice, and we have nothing bad to say about Thomas Frank as the manager. But you have to ask yourself, does Brentford have enough talent to keep playing at this level and fight for survival?

Time and Date of the Competition

The 2022/23 Premier League season kicks off on Friday, August 5. It will mark the 31st season of the Premier League and the 124th season of the top-flight English football league. The league will run until Sunday, May 28, 2023, when the season’s final round is slated to happen.

Bournemouth To Finish Bottom – 11/8

Not only do we believe Bournemouth will get relegated by the end of this season, but we also believe there is a perfect chance Bournemouth will end the year at the bottom of the table. Nothing about this team would suggest that Bournemouth can finish outside of the bottom three. Even though they’re not in a race against powerful teams, Bournemouth is still weaker than all other relegation candidates.

Bournemouth to finish bottom at 11/8 is easily one of our favourite 2022/23 PL relegations betting tips.

Fulham To Be Relegated – 5/4

Like Bournemouth, we don’t have high hopes for Fulham this season, and even though they’re priced as the third-favourites to crash out of the Premier League, 5/4 is still a bit too generous in our book. For some teams, losing a key player is a huge blow they can’t recover – we expect Fulham to be one of those teams as they try to continue their lives without Carvalho.

Brentford To Be Relegated – 12/5

Brentford might be priced as fifth-favourites to be relegated on the 2022/23 EPL relegation odds markets, but as noted, the Bees are far worse than that. They did well last season, but just like Fulham, they’ve lost a key player in Eriksen and just like Fulham, we expect Brentford to struggle – perhaps even more than the Cottages.

Besides losing Eriksen, Brentford lacks the talent to compete in the EPL. Even though they might have a higher ceiling than other relegation candidates, betting on Brentford to lose the survival race at 12/5 offers great value.

Nottingham Forest To Not Be Relegated – 4/7

Since we’ve established which three teams we don’t like, it makes sense to back to Nothing Forest not being relegated. That’s not to say that Nottm Forest is slightly above the line – but they’re definitely in a much better spot than Fulham, Brentford, and Bournemouth.

The team has shown improvement over the last year and is moving in the right direction. Don’t expect anything crazy from Nottm Forest, though. Just enough to survive another season.

Southampton To Be Relegated – 11/4

A bit of a longshot bet, but worth a try at the offered odds – especially if you have free bets available. Many people are predicting a tough season for the Saints, even though some might disagree. Ralph Hasenhüttl is a solid coach who can develop young talent, and the signing of GK Gavin Bazunu can help Southampton elevate their game.

However, there are concerns, namely due to the departure of Armando Broja, which will leave a huge void in the attack. That is a problem knowing that the Saints scored just 43 goals last season with Broja in the attack. So once again, Southampton will have to rely on set pieces – but perhaps that won’t be enough.

2022/23 PL Relegation Betting Tips – Bonus Pick

We considered taking a treble for our final prediction, but we’re on Bournemouth to end the season with fewer than 32 points at 11/10. The season is long, and there will be many chances for Bournemouth to score much-needed points, but the line for total points seems a bit too high, so we’ll gladly take this football bet.

Prediction: Bournemouth under 32 (total season points) – 11/10
