Champions League: Who Will Win Each Last-16 Tie? (Part One)

Champions League: Who Will Win Each Last-16 Tie? (Part One)

The Champions League knockout stage is almost upon us, with the eight last-16 ties set to take place over the coming weeks.

Which teams will advance to the quarter-finals? We have taken a look at the latest Champions League betting odds and previewed the first four round of 16 match-ups.

Copenhagen vs Manchester City

  • Copenhagen: 1/8 (SkyBet)
  • Manchester City: 9/2 (SkyBet)

Manchester City are the defending champions and they were handed the kindest last-16 draw of any team. Pep Guardiola’s side should have little trouble against a Copenhagen team that finished above Galatasaray and Manchester United in the group stage.

City have the attacking firepower to do serious damage to the Danish team’s backline. They should be capable of winning both legs of this tie without breaking sweat. Copenhagen have their work cut out against arguably the strongest side on the continent right now. A good chance to use one of the top live betting sites.

Prediction: Manchester City to go through.

RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid

  • RB Leipzig: 9/4 (Paddy Power)
  • Real Madrid: 1/3 (Paddy Power)

Real Madrid are the kings of the Champions League. The Blancos have lifted the famous trophy a record 14 times, while Carlo Ancelotti is the most successful manager in the competition’s history. Madrid can never be written off when it comes to Europe’s premier tournament.

RB Leipzig are potentially tricky opponents, especially when playing in front of their own fans at the Red Bull Arena. But it is hard to see them advancing at the expense of a Madrid side packed full of talent from front to back.

Prediction: Real Madrid to go through.

Lazio vs Bayern Munich

  • Lazio: 7/1 (BoyleSports)
  • Bayern Munich: 1/14 (BoyleSports)

Bayern Munich are being kept honest by Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race. Not winning the league in Germany would be seen as a huge failing for Thomas Tuchel’s team, but going all the way in the Champions League would make up for falling short at home.

Lazio can play some pretty football under Maurizio Sarri, but they are enduring a difficult campaign in Serie A. Marred by inconsistency, Lazio will struggle to cope with Bayern’s quality in forward areas. The German outfit should advance from this tie.

Prediction: Bayern Munich to go through.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Sociedad

  • Paris Saint-Germain: 1/2 (888Sport)
  • Real Sociedad: 6/4 (888Sport)

This looks like a possible banana skin for Paris Saint-Germain, who should not take anything for granted. The French side have continually fallen short in the Champions League in recent years and they must show they have improved mentally and tactically now we are in the knockout phase.

Real Sociedad are tricky opponents and it would not be a huge surprise if they made it through to the last eight. On balance, though, we fancy Paris Saint-Germain to have a little too much quality for the Spanish team in this last-16 tie.

Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain to go through.
