Understanding the CEV Champions League Final 2023

This competition has been around in some format for more than half a century, with the CEV European Champions Cup first starting in 1959. Since then, the tournament has evolved to become the CEV Champions League, where the best 20 men’s volleyball clubs across Europe compete in a league to determine one winner.

Teams are split into five groups, with pools competing in a six-leg double home and away format. The top five winning teams and three next-best runner-ups move through to the quarterfinals, where a knockout format consisting of two matches between the teams decides the semifinalists and finalists.

ZAKSA vs Jastrzebski Wegiel CEV 2023 Betting Tips

We’ve searched high and low for the best volleyball odds in this 2023 Zaksa vs JW betting preview. Based on this research, as well as the latest statistics and analysis, our CEV Champions League 2023 ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle vs Jastrzebski Wegiel expert picks are as follows:

Jastrzebski Wegiel to Win @ 1.72 (8/11)

It’s safe to say that Jastrzebski Wegiel has come out of nowhere this year. Prior to the 2022-23 CEV Champions League, the Polish club had only reached the final four three times. Each time, JW has failed to perform, with their inability to reach the final a thorn in the club’s side.

This year, however, they are on a mission. Last year’s semifinals saw them get comprehensively beaten 5-1 by Kedzierzyn-Kozle, and they’re looking for revenge this weekend. JW have built some excellent momentum this season. They were the first to qualify for the post-season, putting together a perfect record in their pool. In the quarterfinals, they swept VfB Friedrichshafen before navigating a tricky semifinal against a tough Halkbank Ankara.

Now, with plenty of momentum and also the ability to win the hard way, JW are perfectly placed to win their first CEV title.

Jastrzebski Wegiel to Win 3-2 @ 4.75 (7/2)

While we say JW will have what it takes to win, we also predict they’ll have to do it the long way. Kedzierzyn will be no easy beat, considering they’ve been good enough to win the title the past two years. The Polish club also come into the final playing their best volleyball, winning 6-0 on aggregate against Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia in the semifinals.

Jastrzebski Wegiel should reverse their result from last year’s semifinal against Kedzierzyn-Kozle, but expect this one to go down to the wire.

Jastrzebski Wegiel to Win First Set @ 1.80 (4/5)

Many think that Jastrzebski Wegiel’s pool play was impressive, but that’s selling their post-season short. Since playing in the quarterfinals and semifinals, JW have won the first set of every match they’ve contested. They may have had to slog it out in some of their matches, but regardless of the opposition, JW have been consistently starting fast and winning the opening exchange.

Expect this to continue in the final, with JW coming out of the blocks firing and claiming the first set. That’s an excellent option to claim all the benefits of the new bookies’ offers available for this clash.

Our Volleyball Champions League 22/23 Final Predictions

  • Jastrzebski Wegiel to Win @ 1.72 (8/11)
  • Jastrzebski Wegiel to Win 3-2 @ 4.75 (7/2)

It’s an all-Polish final in the European Volleyball Confederation’s flagship event of the season, the CEV Champions League final. With both teams coming into this match playing great volleyball, fans can expect an excellent match. Zaksa are the experienced side, while JW have been the form team in 2022-23. We say this form will continue, and JW will claim their first title. If you agree, get your bests in fast before markets close this weekend!
