The PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen will feature 24 elite teams. Eight teams got their Elimination stage tickets due to better performances in the regional RMR tournaments, while the remaining sixteen went to the preliminary Opening Stage. Half of those 16 should pass a Swiss system and will join elite teams in the main stage (a so-called Legends Stage in CS:GO).
The Opening Stage is also a part of the Major tournament, with the games played on LAN in Copenhagen, including stickers and the PickEm challenge. Copenhagen’s Royal Arena will host the playoff stage of this event. All games during the playoff stage will unfold before a live studio audience.

At the same time, their individual skill is arguably among the strongest among all competitors. With three top teams vying for the championship, FaZe Clan stands out as a clear contender.
The odds for Virtus.Pro are much higher than the top-three contenders, but they can secure a surprise victory in Copenhagen if they maintain their recent form. They finished fourth at the 2024 BLAST Premier Groups and won convincingly in the RMR qualifiers for this tournament. The CIS-based team has also qualified for the 2024 IEM Dallas.
There are many questions concerning Virtus.Proās ability to perform against the top sides, which was the issue and led to their early exit at IEM Katowice 2024. However, they could perform better and defeat almost any top gun with their slow-paced but structured game, surprising everyone in Copenhagen.
The firepower of Nikola “NiKo” KovaÄ and the rising star Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov make G2 a threat to any opponent. These two are capable of single-handedly carrying matches on their backs. This tournament will be the first CS2 Major, featuring 24 teams. It is an S-Teir tournament that will unfold over 14 days. The competition has a $1,250,000 prize pool. Competition winners will receive $500,000 and an invite to the 2024 BLAST World Final.
The second, third, and fourth-placed teams will receive $170,000 and $80,000, respectively. Teams that finish between fifth and eighth will receive $45,000. Based on their finish in the competition, all other teams will receive $20,000 and $10,000.
The PGL Major Copenhagen tournament will have three distinct phases: the Opening Stage, the Elimination Stage, and the Playoff Stage.
During the Opening Stage, 16 teams will compete in a Swiss format. The matches will be best-of-one, and elimination or qualification matches will be best-of-three. The top eight teams from this stage will advance to the next phase.
During the elimination phase, eight teams from the opening stage will compete with eight additional teams that directly qualify for this stage. The Elimination Stage will follow a Swiss-style bracket format, with opening matches played in a best-of-one format. However, deciding games will be played as a best-of-three. The top eight teams from this stage will qualify for the next phase.
The Playoff Stage is a straightforward single-elimination bracket, where the remaining eight teams will compete in best-of-three matches to determine the ultimate champion of the PGL Major Copenhagen tournament. Even without a full list of participants in the Elimination stage, one can choose the PickāEm for this stage. With a much wider tier-1 list of teams, the choosing process becomes much more difficult. Traditionally, we expect a few upsets for top guns and a few surprising tags in the playoffs.
With some pause in the elite matchups before the Copenhagen Major 2024, those predictions will be based more on the former performances. Thus, the likes of NAVI, Spirit, Virtus.Pro, and Vitality should secure their spots in playoffs. Heroic and Eternal Fire showed enough power and potential to pass the tough group stage as well. FaZe and G2 are two teams that can surprise, finishing the Elimination stage with either 3-0 or 0-3, so itās better to pick them for the first spots.
