German Bundesliga 2022/23 Winner Predictions & Odds

The 60th season of Bundesliga kicks off on August 5, at a slightly earlier date than last year due to the Qatar World Cup taking place in November-December. German Bundesliga 2022/23 Winner Odds – Bookies’ Favorites

Bayern Munich – 1/5

Bayern Munich is expected to dominate the upcoming season, which makes sense, knowing that almost every analyst has Bayern at the top of their list of 2022/23 Bundesliga table predictions. Die Roten are the defending Bundesliga champions, finishing eight points clear of Borussia Dortmund last year. If the German Bundesliga 2023 winner odds are correct, Julian Nagelsmann’s men will be even more dominant this season.

Notably, Bayern lost just five of their 34 games last season, scoring 97 goals (2.85 per game) and conceding just 37 (1.08 per game). Bayern Munich ended the season with an outrageous +60 goal difference with the league-best defensive and offensive record.

Beyond that, Bayern Munich has strengthened its lineup for the upcoming season, so by putting two and two together, Bayern should be even stronger this time out. Even with the departure of Robert Lewandowski, that’s entirely achievable, but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee that Bayern will end this season with a better record or that they’ll win.

Bayern’s eight-point lead might sound a lot by the end of the 2021/22 season, but the gap was smaller than in the previous two years (13 points). So as much as you can argue that Bayern’s chances of winning this season are higher, we would tame our expectations.

Borussia Dortmund – 8/1

According to the latest Germany Bundesliga 2023 title odds, Borussia Dortmund can only hope to compete with Bayern Munich. But even though Bayern looks like the strongest team and the most likely champion, we would not look past Borussia.

You can’t deny that Borussia Dortmund are the second-best team in Germany, and they’ve been for a while now. FC Nurnberg and Bayern are the only two teams who have won more titles over the years, and Nurnberg hasn’t won once since 1967, so by process of elimination, Borrusia is de facto the second-best team in Germany.

Like Bayern Munich, Borussia entered the new season without its MVP player and top goalscorer, Erling Haaland, who moved to Manchester City for the 2022/23 season. This is a massive blow to Borussia’s hopes of reclaiming the German throne, and it doesn’t help that the team was not good enough to compete with Bayern last season.

On a more positive note, Borussia got its hands on Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg, who will replace Haaland. How efficient he will be at that task is anyone’s guess, but the answer will play a significant role in Borussia Dortmund’s chances of claiming the trophy.

RB Leipzig – 11/1

The third-most likely winner of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season, RB Leipzig shares a trait with Borussia and Bayern – like their main rivals, RB Leipzig also lost its key player in Adeyemi, who left for Borussia. So now the question is: how good can RB Leipzig be without its star player?

As a club, RB Leipzig has been playing well over the last six seasons – claiming four top-three berths, including runner-up finishes in 2016/17 and 2020/21. That’s not bad for a club that has fought through Bundelsiha promotions in 2016. What’s even more interesting is Leipzig’s run through the last season.

RB Leipzig kicked off the 2021/22 season with a 5-3-6 record across their first 14 outings. But things started looking much different since Domenico Tedesco took over as the manager. Under Tedesco, Leipzig suffered just four defeats across 20 outings and finished the season on a high note – you must wonder where Leipzig would end had they not lost six games across the opening 14 rounds.

The biggest question about Leipzig is who the club will sign to improve its chances of claiming the coveted trophy. We might need to wait a bit longer to get that answer, but at least RB Leipzig re-signed Christopher Nkunku.

Bayern Leverkusen – 25/1

Like Leipzig, Bayern Lekerkusen impressed many with their performances in 2021/22. The club ended the season on a four-game winning streak, and Bayern Lekerkusen also won 11 of their final 16, proving that the pressure doesn’t get to them.

Most of Bayern Lekerkusen’s success was thanks to Patrik Schick, who scored 24 goals in 27 games and ended the MVP race in second place. Even with Patrik Schick, Bayern Lekerkusen might not be one of the main candidates to win the title, albeit they can be potent.

Their best finish in the Bundesliga came in 2010/11 when Bayern Lekerkusen placed second behind Borussia Dortmund. Since then, they’ve achieved three top-3s, and if Bayern Lekerkusen can keep improving in the 2022/23 season, we might see them back on the podium.

Eintracht Frankfurt – 100/1

Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League last season, but according to the latest odds, they’re nowhere near the top of the German Bundesliga 2023 winner odds list. That makes sense since Eintracht Frankfurt doesn’t possess the talent of Bayern, Borussia, or Leverkusen, but that doesn’t mean that the Eagles can’t threaten any top dogs.

Perhaps it’s unrealistic to expect the team to emerge as the champion, but Eintracht Frankfurt has it in them to compete for a strong finish. Summer was kind to Frankfurt as they’ve kept all of their big star players, granted it’s unclear what will happen with Filip Kostic.

But even if the Serbian star player leaves the Eagles, there is plenty to be optimistic about. The club will continue with Jens Petter Hague, and they’ve acquired Lucas Alario, who has scored 42 goals in Bundesliga and could be the missing piece that will help Eintracht Frankfurt reach new heights.

Time and Date of the Competition

The 2022/23 Bundesliga will kick off on Friday, August 5 and conclude on May 27, 2023, with the final round of the league. The competition will feature 18 German football clubs from 17 cities, including Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen, who earned their promotion back into the top flight.

Borussia Dortmund to Win (Without Bayern) – 11/8

The German Bundesliga 2023 winner odds on Borussia Dortmund are very appealing, but it’s hard to make a case for the team knowing how much stronger Bayern Munich are. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t include Borussia Dortmund on our German Bundesliga 2022/23 betting tips list.

Borussia Dortmund would be the clear candidate to win the title in an alternate universe where the Bundesliga does not feature Bayern Munich. But luckily, we can make that imaginary world a reality with the “to win without” betting markets, where you can find Borussia Dortmund priced as high as 11/8 to win the league without Bayern Munich.

RB Leipzig is a threat, but real money bookies are offering 11/8 on Borussia, which is a solid price for the second-best German football team.

Eintracht Frankfurt Top 4 Finish – 7/2

Eintracht Frankfurt might not be the best team in the league, and they’re not one of the top two, but it would be crazy to think Eintracht Frankfurt can’t finish the season inside the top 4. They have the talent to do it, and with the addition of Lucas Alario, the club’s chances of competing for a strong finish are significantly higher.

The current 2022/23 Bundesliga top 4 odds show Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen as the main candidates. Still, we’re willing to believe at least one of the four will slip, allowing Eintracht Frankfurt to steal the spotlight. At 7/2, the odds for the top 4 finishing Bundesliga 2022/23 can’t be ignored.

Cologne To Be Relegated – 6/1

Cologne recorded its best Bundesliga finish in five years last season (7th), so it might sound weird that we expect the club to get relegated this season. But as everyone who watched any live stream and follows the games knows, Cologne is a very streaky team.

Cologne has suffered five relegations from the Bundesliga since the turn of the century and knows that trend. It’s easy to believe it might happen again. Moreover, the future of the club’s talismanic forward, Anthony Modeste, is still unclear. If he ends up leaving, it will put Cologne in a rough spot, as they’ve not brought in any replacements.

Notably, Anthony Modeste scored 20 goals for the club last season (38% of all goals). And even if he decides to stay, the 34-year-old has started showing some cracks of late and is likely to drop off sooner rather than later. Cologne might be one of the best relegation betting offers on the Bundesliga outright betting markets.

Augsburg To Be Relegated – 11/10

When we talk relegation battle, we have to mention Augsburg, who barely kept their heads above the water last season. They finished just a point clear of the play-off relegation spot, but the superior head-to-head record to Herta BSC kept them safe. But things could look much grimmer this season.

This summer’s lack of quality signings is another big handicap that could and likely spell problems for Augsburg. But realistically, if Augsburg falls off, we could say that it was a long time coming knowing that the club has not achieved much besides being very effective in dodging the bullet by the smallest of margins more than once.

Die Fuggerstadter have been flirting with the relegation for far too long and has failed to make any changes that would make them more competitive in 2022/23; it’s only fair to expect them to fall off.

German Bundesliga Predictions 2022/23 – Bonus Pick

For our final prediction, we’re putting some money on Christopher Nkunku, the breakout star of the 2021/22 season, to end the year as the top goalscorer. He scored 35 goals in all competitions in 2021/22 and had never scored more than seven in previous seasons, suggesting we could be witnessing the birth of a new football superstar. He might be a one-season wonder, but at 10/1, he is worth a bet.

Prediction: Christopher Nkunku top goalscorer – 10/1

Our German Bundesliga 2022/23 Betting Tips

  • Borussia Dortmund to win (Without Bayern) – 11/8
  • Eintracht Frankfurt’s top 4 finish – 7/2
  • Cologne to be relegated – 6/1
  • Augsburg to be relegated – 11/10
  • Christopher Nkunku top goalscorer – 10/1

That concludes our 2022/23 Bundesliga betting preview, providing you with 5 expert betting picks and predictions.
