It’s easy to forget just how damn good Carlos Alcaraz was this time last year, what with all the kerfuffle around Jannik Sinner of late. Just to remind you: in 2023, Alcaraz began his clay season in Barcelona, winning the title, before also lifting the trophy in Madrid and making the semi-finals of Roland Garros. That’s one ATP 500, one ATP 1000, and a Grand Slam semi-final. No one had a better clay season than Alcaraz did in 2023, and we say he’s going to do it all over again this year.

Important things to know for those who are planning to bet on the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters tennis: Djokovic typically performs poorly in this tournament (he hasn’t won it in almost a decade), and Sinner is treating Monte-Carlos as a practice week. Outside of these two, Alcaraz is virtually unrivaled on clay. Sure, there’s always the option of an upset ala Fabian Marozsan in Rome last year, but it’s unlikely the Spaniard’s focus will waiver in his first effort of the year on European clay.

The beauty of Alcaraz, Djokovic, and Sinner being such heavy favorites in the 2024 tennis Monte-Carlo Masters odds is that it opens up some huge opportunities for dark horse betting. How about these odds of 67.00 (66/1) for Hubert Hurkacz to win the title?

It’s not like this is an outrageous prospect, either. Hurkacz just won his first clay court title over the weekend, with the Pole expanding his game and developing his movement to accommodate the red dirt. While his big serve is somewhat muted by the slower surface, a big serve is still a big serve, as all that faced him in Estoril discovered last week.

Extrapolating the draw in Monte-Carlo, Hurkacz is most likely to face Casper Ruud in the round of 16, whom he beat in their most recent meeting. Alcaraz could await in the quarters, and while the Spaniard owns a 3-0 head-to-head against Hurkacz, the Pole had a match point the last time they played. Survive those encounters, and who knows what is waiting in the semi-finals, given that Djokovic is susceptible to upsets in Monte-Carlo.

Speaking of upsets, if a dark horse is ever going to make a run on the clay, it’s here in Monte-Carlo. Think Fabio Fognini, Dusan Lajovic, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Albert Ramos Vinolas – these are all past finalists at this event in the last six editions. One of our top free tips for Monte-Carlo Masters 2024 tennis is that there will be an unseeded finalist.

Taking this bet means wagering on the likes of Lorenzo Musetti, Gael Monfils, Cameron Norrie, Matteo Berrettini and Jack Draper. All top notch candidates and more than capable of making a deep run here in Monte-Carlo.

With the European clay season beginning in earnest this week in Monte-Carlo, anything could happen. Make sure you don’t just leave your bets for inplay live betting because there are plenty of excellent outright bets to be made this week. We say Carlos Alcaraz will reign supreme on the red dirt again, while a few upsets could unfold as well. Bet on an unseeded finalist (Matteo Berrettini, anyone?), and there’s a good chance you’ll be well rewarded this week.
