The thing is that only one defender has won the award in nearly four decades, so it will be tough for him to win.
Jude Bellingham’s odds have dropped from 4.50 (7/2) before the Euro tournament to 9.0 (8/1) now. The English midfielder has been outstanding all season, so he is still not out of the question to win the award. Lamine Yamal was one of the key players for La Roja in their European Championship win, but he has scored only six goals and seven assists with Barcelona this season, so his chances aren’t that high.
