Iga Swiatek has undoubtedly been the best female player in the last couple of years. She has won four Grand Slam events, but she hasn’t performed that well at the Australian Open, as her best result in the tournament was going to the semifinals. Aryna Sabalenka is the defending champion, and she is a great hard-surface player. She has already won her first matchup against Ella Seidel and dropped only one game. Find best betting app with minimum deposit for this.

Elena Rybakina went to the Australian Open finals last year, so she has a lot of experience here and can definitely win the event this time. Coco Gauff comes into this tournament as a Grand Slam winner, and she has a good draw to the quarterfinals at least. Jessica Pegula is the only player in the top five favorites who hasn’t won a Grand Slam title before. She is in good form but doesn’t have enough experience in the major tournaments.

    Understanding the WTA Australian Open

The WTA Australian Open is the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. The competition is played on hard surfaces, and it usually starts in mid-January and runs for two weeks. Margaret Molesworth won the first edition of the Women’s Australian Open, which was held in 1922. She also has the record for the most titles won by any woman (11), and Serena Williams comes in second with seven championships.

There’s a total of 128 female players competing in the singles event. The format of the tournament is single elimination knockout matches until we get one winner, and all matches are played with the usual three-set system.

    Last Five Winners

    • 2023 – Aryna Sabalenka beat Elena Rybakina
    • 2022 – Ashleigh Barty beat Danielle Collins
    • 2021 – Naomi Osaka beat Jennifer Brady
    • 2020 – Sofia Kenin beat Garbine Muguruza
    • 2019 – Naomi Osaka beat Petra Kvitova

There have been four different champions in the last four editions, and no woman has won back-to-back titles since 2013, so it will be interesting to see what Aryna Sabalenka does this year. Ashleigh Barty is the only Australian woman to win the AO championship in the last 45 years. This will be the first WTA Australian Open event to have six former female champions in the main draw.

If you want to bet on AO 2024, then Elena Rybakina has some enticing odds with good chances of winning. The Kazakhstani tennis player won the WTA Brisbane event days ago in Australia, so she is used to the courts here and is in great form. Elena had one of the hardest draws in the AO last year, and yet she went all the way to the finals, beating Danielle Collins, Iga Swiatek, Jelena Ostapenko, and Victoria Azarenka.

Rybakina’s draw in the 2024 WTA Australian Open is much easier. She comes into this tournament in great form, winning six of her last seven matches. Elena has a very good serve, especially on hard surfaces, so if she brings her best effort here, she will have pretty good winning chances.

Ons Jabeur is the No. 6-ranked female player right now. She has reached three Grand Slam finals before but has lost all of them. The Tunisian tennis player has looked very good in the first round, beating Yulia Starodubtseva 6-3, 6-1 in two sets. She is a favorite over her second-round opponent as well, Mirra Andreeva, and she has a pretty decent draw to the semifinals. The odds are very high here for such a talented player like One Jabeur, but it’s still a risky pick due to her lack of playing time recently.

Aryna Sabalenka looked great in the first round and won 6-0, 6-1, dropping only one game to Ella Seidel in that match. She is the world No. 2 right now, and she is in excellent form, winning nine of her last 11 matches. Sabalenka has one of the best serves on hard surfaces, and she puts a lot of power into her shots as well. She is the defending champion, so she will be motivated to get to the semifinals at least. Aryna can’t face Iga Swiatek before the finals, and the draw has put her in a good quarter.

This will be one of the most unexpected matches in the tournament. Shelby Rogers hasn’t played in six months since losing to Elena Rybakina in last year’s WTA Wimbledon event, while Emma Raducanu has played only twice in the last eight months. Both players lack match fitness, so this matchup can very well end quickly in two sets. Raducanu and Rogers went under the total in their first-round matches last year. They have played only one head-to-head match, and it went under the total, as Emma won 6-2, 6-1 in two sets.
