World Snooker Tour: The 2023 German Masters Betting Preview & Odds (February 1-5)

German Masters 2023 Betting Tips & Predictions (WST 2022/23)

Snooker heads to Germany this week for the 2023 German Masters. Berlin will see five days of snooker action as fans flock to the nation’s capital for a festival of snooker. With no defending champion in the draw and plenty of top-ranked players missing as well, this should be an exciting week of snooker with a few surprises up its sleeve.

German Masters 2023: Snooker Event Details

Australia’s Neil Robertson will fancy his chances here, as it’s been a while since he was the top-ranked player in a tournament. However, with Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, Mark Allen, and Judd Trump sitting this one out, Robertson will feel as though he has one hand on the trophy already. Don’t mention that to Jack Lisowski or Kyren Wilson, though, as the two Englishmen will have different ideas about how the next five days should unfold.

Tournament: World Snooker Tour 2022-23, The 2023 German Masters
Venue: Tempodrom, Berlin, Germany
Date: Wednesday, 1 February to Sunday, 5 February 2023

Overall 2023 German Masters Snooker Odds

For those who want to bet on snooker, here are the best 2023 snooker German Masters odds from leading online bookmakers:

  • Neil Robertson to win @ 3.50 (5/2)
  • Jack Lisowski to win @ 5.00 (4/1)
  • Kyren Wilson to win @ 7.00 (6/1)
  • Ali Carter to win @ 10.00 (9/1)
  • Ricky Walden to win @ 13.00 (12/1)

With several of snooker’s top players missing from this event, Australia’s Neil Robertson is both the highest-ranked participant and the clear favorite in this tournament. Behind him is 2021 beaten finalist Jack Lisowski, who is followed by 2019 winner Kyren Wilson as the third favorite. Next is 2013 champion, Ali Carter, before world No 21 Ricky Walden rounds out the top five betting favorites for the German Masters 2023.

Understanding the German Masters 2023

The German Masters is one of the most anticipated stops of the World Snooker Tour, with the sport gaining a big following in the country. Known as ‘the Woodstock of snooker,’ the German Masters sees many fans travel across Europe to view their favorite players compete for the title in Berlin.

This year, however, the draw has received a shake-up with multiple Chinese players being suspended from the World Snooker Tour on match-fixing allegations. This includes both of last year’s finalists, Zhao Xintong and Yan Bingtao, who were both seeded and give walkovers to their first-round opponents.

Here’s a look at how this tournament has played out over recent years:

  • 2018 – Mark Williams beat Graeme Dott
  • 2019 – Kyren Wilson beat David Gilbert
  • 2020 – Judd Trump beat Neil Robertson
  • 2021 – Judd Trump beat Jack Lisowski
  • 2022 – Zhao Xintong beat Yan Bingtao

Last year saw an all-Chinese final, as Zhao Xintong became the second Chinese player to win the German Masters. With Xintong currently suspended from the World Snooker Tour and unable to defend his title, will the German Masters see a new champion in 2023?

Top Snooker German Masters 2023 Predictions

Those who want to bet on the German Masters 2023 are in luck because we have some fantastic wagers to make on betting sites in Germany. Here are our top three punts we suggest making ahead of the first break on Wednesday:

Neil Robertson to Win @ 3.50 (5/2)

Australia’s Neil Robertson will thank his lucky stars for how the draw has unfolded for him at the German Masters 2023. Placed in the lower half of the draw, Robertson only has one top-ten player to defeat on his path to the final, where he’ll likely have to defeat either Kyren Wilson or Jack Lisowski.

Having won four events in 2021-22, Robertson is yet to even reach a final in 2022-23, having been eliminated at the semifinal stage four times. However, these results are less an indication of how badly Robertson is playing as they indicate how well his competition has been performing. Now, with the four players ranked higher than him out of the tournament and both of last year’s finalists, the 40-year-old will fancy his chances of picking up his first tournament win of the season here.

With odds of 3.50 (5/2), Robertson is an excellent bet at claiming the title in Berlin this week.

Jack Lisowski and Neil Robertson in Final @ 7.50 (13/2)

We say Jack Lisowski is a good bet to be the player who will join Neil Robertson in the final on Sunday.

The Englishman is situated in the opposite half of the draw to Robertson and benefits from the withdrawal of Chinese bookies’ favorite Zhao Xintong due to his suspension from the World Snooker Tour. Lisowski has one tough match en route to the final – a likely semifinal against world No 8 Kyren Wilson. Both players have won the tournament previously, and this will be something of a coin flip, but Lisowski has beaten Wilson in the past and will be eager to avenge his loss in the finals of the German Masters two years ago, so we give him the edge.

Kyren Wilson to Win @ 7.00 (6/1)

For a slightly edgier bet, we suggest backing the third favorite to win the German Masters 2023.

Kyren Wilson has historically performed well in Germany, winning the event in 2019. His most recent tournament win on the World Snooker Tour came in Germany, winning the European Masters in August 2022. As the second-highest-ranked player in this event, Wilson will also see an opportunity to claim another win without having to defeat one of the big names that usually stand in the way of silverware in snooker.

Wilson’s odds of 7.00 (6/1) feel a little undervalued, and though Robertson is the more likely winner, this is a good bet to hedge against Robertson winning.

Best World Snooker Tour 2023 Betting Tips

  • Neil Robertson to Win @ 3.50 (5/2)
  • Jack Lisowski and Neil Robertson in Final @ 7.50 (13/2)

Whether you know all the best apps for betting and have followed the 2022-23 snooker season, or if you’ve never placed a bet in your life, the German Masters 2023 has something for you. In what’s shaping up to be one of the most open events of the year so far, we say Australia’s Neil Robertson has a good shot at winning here and is the bet we’d recommend taking.
