This makes picking an outright winner for the Wuhan Open very challenging. However, our money is on Neil Robertson to win this tournament for several reasons.
The Australian did well in Shanghai a few weeks ago, making it to the semi-finals before falling to an in-form Luca Brecel. Traveling to this side of the world and playing in front of these crowds clearly works for Robertson. Secondly, the world No. 6 is returning strong odds in Wuhan. It feels as though any of half a dozen players could win this tournament – so why not bet on the one who will pay the most, in that case? Robertson’s odds of 11.00 (10/1) feel very generous, making this an excellent bet.

England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan is back in the winners’ circle this season, and our 2023 Snooker Wuhan Open predictions have the 47-year-old making a deep run here in Wuhan as well. Similar to Neil Robertson, he did great last time the World Snooker Tour was in China. Looking at his quarter, thanks to the withdrawal of several players, such as Luca Brecel, before the tournament’s start on Monday, O’Sullivan has an easy run through to the quarter-finals.
There are no big names standing in O’Sullivan’s way. While other quarters feature challenging round of 16 clashes, the Englishman will just need to navigate a clash against world No 15 Ding Junhui if he’s to win the fourth quarter.

This week’s scheduling is tough, with Judd Trump winning the English Open on Sunday and then heading straight to China to play his first-round Wuhan Open match on Tuesday. We say that this jet setting around the world, plus the hangover of victory in the English Open, combined with the general inconsistency and volatility of the WST this season, will all be a bit much for Judd Trump. It’s not hard at all to see the world No 4 getting upset here, with Oliver Lines being the beneficiary in the first round of the Wuhan Open 2023.
Snooker marches on this week, with the Wuhan Open kicking off just hours after the last shot in the English Open on Sunday. We say it will be Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan who put in strong performances here in Wuhan, with the former being a great bet to win the tournament because of his out-sized odds to win, and the latter playing in a weak quarter and looking good to make at least the quarter-finals.
