The 2024/25 Europa League season will be the first season played under a new format, as the number of eligible teams increases from 32 to 36. In the new format, there will be a league phase consisting of 36 teams and a knockout phase later on.
The group stage consists of four pots of nine teams, each based on their UEFA club coefficient. Each team will face two opponents from each of the four pots, one at home and one away. The top eight from this stage will qualify for the round of 16, while the teams placed 9th to 24th will play two-legged knockout matches to join the top eight. The latter stages will undergo the traditional two-legged knockout format and single-game final.
