Georgia Bulldogs @ 4.0 (3/1)

The bookies think that this will be a two-horse race between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes. This Bulldogs team has the most experience in college football, having won back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023. They have arguably the best quarterback in Carson Beck, and he is currently the favorite to win the Heisman Award as well.

Ohio State Buckeyes @ 5.0 (4/1)

The Ohio Buckeyes finished last season with an 11-2 record, as they lost the Cotton Bowl Classic to the Missouri Tigers, but they have acquired some very promising players for this year, like Quinshon Judkins, Caleb Downs, and Will Howard. The Buckeyes have also upgraded their coaching staff and will be title contenders this season for sure.

Oregon Ducks @ 9.0 (8/1)

The Oregon Ducks improved a lot last season, finishing with a 12-2 overall record after winning the Fiesta Bowl over the Liberty Flames. Both of their losses came to the Washington Huskies team that reached the National Championship game, so they are expected to be even better this year after acquiring Dillon Gabriel and Evan Stewart. The Ducks were one of the best three teams against the spread last season.

Texas Longhorns @ 9.50 (17/2)

The Texas Longhorns were one of four College Football Playoff teams last season, but they lost to the Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl. The Longhorns lost five of their key players who went to the NFL, so maybe they will take a step back this season, but the bright side is that they still have Quinn Ewers as their starting quarterback.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ 15.0 (14/1)

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be playing their first season in the post-Nick Saban era, who is the best coach in college football history. They have hired Kalen DeBoer, who led Washington to the national championship game last season, so they are expected to have a strong season. The Crimson Tide have the best offensive line in college football this season, in addition to Jalen Milroe, who returns as their starting quarterback for another year.

College Football 2024-25 Season Format & Overview

There are 134 schools in college that are split into ten conferences, and each team plays a total of 12 games throughout the regular season. The 24–25 NCAA Football season will have a new playoff format that consists of 12 teams qualifying for the postseason, as there were only four teams previously. The top teams don’t qualify directly for the playoffs but rather are selected by the CFB selection committee, as they rank and choose the top 12 teams in college football at the end of the season.

The top four teams in the playoffs receive a bye from the first round, while the remaining eight teams fight for a place in the quarterfinals. Both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll have the Georgia Bulldogs in first place, while the Ohio State Buckeyes come in second place in both pre-season ranking polls as well.

History of College American Football

Although this is the 155th season of the college football competition, this will be only the 11th season with the Playoff system, as this will also be the first edition with the new 12-team format. The Michigan Wolverines won their first title in the College Football National Championship era last season, which was their 10th trophy overall, and they were undefeated in this title run.

Last Five Winners

  • 2023 – Michigan Wolverines 34-13 Washington Huskies
  • 2022 – Georgia Bulldogs 65-7 TCU Horned Frogs
  • 2021 – Georgia Bulldogs 33-18 Alabama Crimson Tide
  • 2020 – Alabama Crimson Tide 52-24 Ohio State Buckeyes
  • 2019 – LSU Tigers 42-25 Clemson Tigers

The NCAAF 2024 season winner odds have the Buckeyes as close second favorites for a reason. They have the talent to win a championship this season, especially after their great pre-season transfers. The Ohio State Buckeyes have two of the top five running backs in college football, TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, in addition to one of the best wide receivers in the country, Emeka Egbuka.

If you want to bet on college American football this year, then picking the Buckeyes to win the championship sounds reasonable. They have such a great roster and coaching staff, and the near future looks bright for them.

The NCAA football 2024 odds for the Ole Miss Rebels to make the playoffs are really enticing, especially since they are the sixth-ranked team on the AP Poll ranking, which is the highest rank they have had in decades. Jaxson Dart is one of the top five quarterbacks in college football, while Tre Harris and Caden Prieskorn are also expected to shine this year. The Rebels are coming off their best season in history, having won 11 games in the 2023 NCAAF season, and they are looking even stronger this year.

Utah Utes to Win the Big 12 Championship @ 3.75 (11/4)

The Utah Utes look like the team to beat in the Big 12 Conference right now. The Utes had an underwhelming performance last year due to injuries, as Cameron Rising, Brant Kuithe, and Micah Bernard were out for most of the season, but all of them are back, and the team looks as strong as it gets. Kyle Whittingham is also one of the best coaches in the Big 12 Conference, if not the best. Utah’s schedule isn’t tough at all, so they will have a chance to bounce back and win the conference this year.

The Baylor Bears are coming off a disappointing season in which they had a 3-9 record. They upgraded the offense well in the off-season by signing quarterback Dequan Finn, and they are expected to do better defensively this year as well. This same Baylor team has won 12 games in the 2021 season, and they have gone over this total of wins in four of the last six seasons. The last time the Bears had a very bad year was in 2020, when they won only two games, and they followed that with their best-ever season in the next year, so they are a team that bounces back well.
