Understanding the JM Eagle LA Championship 2023

The JM Eagle LA Championship is one of the newer editions of the LPGA Tour, with this being only the second time the event has been played. Last year, it was contested at the Palos Verdes Golf Club and was pseudo-combined with the LA Open, occurring in consecutive weeks to the other Los Angeles event.

This year, however, the JM Eagle LA Championship has undergone a course change and will be played a few weeks apart from the LA Open. The Wilshire Country Club, former host of the LA Open, will play host to the golf this week, with 50 of the best female golfers in attendance.

  • 2022 – Marina Alex beat Jin Young Ko

This may only be the second edition of the JM Eagle LA Championship, but already Jin Young Ko has her nose in front of the competition, following her strong run last year. Can the South Korean go one better this week? Find out below in our 2023 LPGA JM Eagle LA Championship betting preview.

2023 JM Eagle LA Championship LPGA Betting Tips

We’ve analyzed the latest ladies’ golf odds and unearthed the absolute best bets to place this weekend on the LPGA Tour. Here are our top three Ladies JM Eagle LA Championship 2023 golf predictions:

Jin Young Ko to Win @ 10.00 (9/1)

Is there a more in-form female golfer in 2023? The case can certainly be made for Jin Young Ko as one of the hottest clubs this season, particularly considering the results she’s strung together in recent tournaments. To date, the South Korean has finished in the top 10 in all but one of the events she’s competed in this season – and even her ‘failure’ was a T25 finish, nothing to be ashamed of in professional golf. Add in the fact that she won the HSBC Women’s World Championship in March, arguably the biggest event this year, and Jin Young Ko is looking like a strong option to win this weekend.

This time last year, Jin-young Ko fell an agonizing one-stroke short of finishing second in the JM Eagle LA Championship. Now that she’s heading into this tournament in strong form, and with the experience of having come oh-so-close here in 2022, Ko is a great bet to win at 10.00 (9/1).

Atthaya Thitikul Top Five @ 2.50 (3/2)

Those disagreeing that Ko is the form golfer of 2023 are probably fans of Atthaya Thitikul. The Thai youngster has been striking the ball incredibly well this year, also recording four out of five top-10 finishes. She’s yet to win an event this season but has two top-five finishes, including just last week at the Chevron Championship. With her consistency so far this season, it’s hard to see Thitikul crumbling and achieving anything less than a top-five finish here – she may even go on to win. Back the 20-year-old at 2.50 (3/2) for a conservative payout.

Lilia Vu to Win @ 11.00 (10/1)

Standing in the way of both these women winning is Lilia Vu. Now this is a lady who has some serious form – no one has more tournament wins than Vu on the 2023 LPGA Tour. Having collected titles at the Honda LPGA Thailand, as well as last week’s Chevron Championship, Vu has brilliant momentum coming into this event. She played the Los Angeles conditions well earlier this month, recording a T11 at the LA Open, but will want to improve on that result this week.

With her form, it will take someone like Jin Young Ko playing her best golf to deprive Vu of a third title in 2023.

Ladies JM Eagle LA Championship 2023 Golf Predictions

  • Jin Young Ko to Win @ 10.00 (9/1)
  • Atthaya Thitikul Top Five @ 2.50 (3/2)

Los Angeles again plays host to women’s golf as the second edition of the JM Eagle La Championship plays out this week. California bookies are showing an incredibly tight race, as the likes of Jin Young Ko, Atthaya Thitikul, and Lilia Vu all have reason to come into this event full of confidence. For the fans, it should produce a fantastic spectacle, and for those betting, we say Ko has what it takes to come out on top here.
