2024 LoL Worlds Format

The World Championship this year unfolds in three stages: the Play-In Stage, the Swiss Stage, and the Knockout Stage. The tournament begins with the Play-In Stage, where eight teams battle it in two double-elimination brackets. The first and second-placed teams in each bracket move to the Swiss Stage.

The Swiss Stage features 16 teams, including the four Play-In Stage qualifiers. Teams compete in a series of best-of-one matches, divided into four pools based on their seeding. The initial matchups are carefully arranged to avoid early clashes between teams from the same region.

After the first round, teams will play each other based on their win-loss records. This process continues until teams reach three wins or three losses. The top eight teams with three wins qualify for the Knockout Stage.

The Knockouts will unfold as a single-elimination bracket. In this phase, eight teams will play in best-of-five matches. The Grand Finals will also follow this format.

League of Legends World Championship 2024 Prize Pool

From the Swiss stage, 16 teams will compete for a $2,225,000 prize pool. The champion will walk away with $445,000, while the runner-up will earn $356,000. The third and fourth-placed teams will each receive $178,000.

Gen.G Esports @ 3.75 (11/4)

Korea’s Gen.G is a top favorite to win this tournament. The Korean organization has dominated the LCK, winning four consecutive splits. Their only setback came from an unexpected loss to Hanwha Life Esports in the Summer. Their roster reshuffle this season has strengthened their lineup. Thanks to their new additions, they emerged victorious at the Mid-Season Invitational. The team features potential MVP contenders in several roles, with Canyon orchestrating plays as Jungler. Mid-laner Chovy has delivered some exceptional performances at recent outings for this side. Kiin and Lehends were added to the top lane and support positions. Both players have greatly enhanced the team’s capabilities, while the young bot laner Peyz continues to evolve. Their performances coming into this contest make them likely winners come November 2, and Gen.G has reasonable LoL Worlds 2024 betting odds of 3.75 (11/4) to win.

BiliBili Gaming @ 3.75 (11/4)

Any LoL 2024 Worlds preview and analysis guide would be incomplete without including Bilibili Gaming. The team’s acquisition of mid-laner Knight from JDG has significantly bolstered their roster. Despite domestic success, Bilibili has not won any international title this season. The team finished second and fifth at MSI and the Esports World Cup. Despite falling short at those events, Bilibili’s raw power remains undeniable. Top laner Bin forms a formidable solo lane duo with Knight, while their bot lane of Elk and ON is among the strongest at Worlds. The only question mark may lie in the jungle, with Wei‘s performance a potential factor. As one of the top contenders, Bilibili can make a deep run and claim the Worlds 2024 title.

Hanwha Life Esports @ 4.50 (7/2)

Despite being considered outsiders, Hanwha Life Esports could spring a surprise in this contest. They are third favorites to take home the Summoner’s Cup with 2024 LoL Worlds odds of 4.50. Once dismissed as a haven for Gen.G castoffs, the team has proven their mettle with a best-of-five triumph over Gen.G in the LCK summer finals. Their win in that final demonstrates their capacity to topple elite squads. However, clinching the Worlds will demand they replicate such feats consistently. If they can get their act together, they could be the champions. Hanwha Esports betting odds 2024 are 4.50 (7/2).

Top Esports @ 7.00 (6/1)

Top Esports has shown remarkable form in recent competitions. Their second-place finish in the LPL Spring 2024, followed by a fifth at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and another runner-up spot at the Esports World Cup, highlight their prowess. These achievements are particularly impressive given the caliber of their rivals. However, Top Esports must elevate their game further to clinch their inaugural tournament victory. With peak performances, they stand a real chance of securing the title, but it will require them to surpass formidable opponents.

T1 Esports @ 7.00 (6/1)

T1’s appearance as the fifth favorite team to clinch the League of Legends World Championship 2024 may surprise many outsiders. However, their current position simply highlights the competitive nature of this sporting niche. T1 has not done badly at recent outings, securing third and second at the LCK Summer 2024 and LCK Regional Finals 2024. They also won the Esports World Cup and came third at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024. Interestingly, T1 is the current Summoner’s Cup holder after winning this contest’s last edition. Hungry for more titles, T1 will be keen to secure consecutive wins come November 2.

Gen.G emerges as our top favorite to win this tournament, thanks to the title win at MSI 2024. The Korean organization has the LCK on lock, emerging victorious in four consecutive splits. Their only stumble came from a surprising loss to Hanwha Life Esports in the Summer. They also placed fifth at the Esports World Cup. Gen.G’s roster reshuffle has paid off handsomely, with new additions elevating the team’s performance. Canyon, Chovy, Kiin, and Lehends have been instrumental in the team’s success, delivering when needed. Given their strength, we anticipate Gen.G will emerge victorious in this competition.

Bilibili’s sole blemish this year has been their failure to secure an international title. Yet, they showcased their prowess by reaching the MSI 2024 Grand Finals, succumbing only to Gen.G. Their subsequent global appearance at the Esports World Cup yielded a respectable fifth-place finish. Disregarding Gen.G’s MSI triumph, Bilibili stands toe-to-toe with them. While we predict Gen.G will clinch this tournament, we also envision Bilibili advancing to the grand finals. The Chinese squad’s formidable lineup has what it takes to reach the grand finals. Numerous LoL Worlds predictions expect this outcome.

As part of our 2024 LoL picks, we expect T1 to win their first match in this contest. Though ranked fifth among the top contenders in this tournament, T1 remains a force to be reckoned with. The South Korean squad has shown remarkable form this year, clinching one championship and securing two runner-up and third-place finishes. While Top Esports has impressed, T1 has more on the line as the defending champions. This added pressure will likely fuel their determination to make a strong opening statement. Given their track record and motivation, we anticipate T1 emerging victorious in this crucial matchup.
