There has been a lot of activity in the French transfer market, and with PSG losing some stars, we could see a more competitive season. Last season was an interesting one in the Ligue One as Lens missed out on the league title by a point while we saw AS Monaco and Olympique Lyon finish outside the top four.

2023–24 Ligue 1 Winner Odds & Favorites
Since Qatar’s takeover of Paris Saint Germain, they have always been clear favorites to win the league, and this year is no different as the bookmakers in France have the Parisiens to win the Ligue One at 1.29. Below you can find the Ligue One odds and favorites for the 2023/24 season.
Paris Saint Germain @ 1.29 (2/7)
It has been a busy summer for PSG, who sacked Christophe Galtier and replaced him with Luis Enrique. The former Barcelona manager is tasked with rebuilding the team, and he has a lot of work to do with the squad taking a new shape. PSG won the league last season, but there was not much to celebrate as they crashed out of the Champions League and domestic cup. The Parisians are forcing Kylian Mbappe to accept a move away from the team to avoid losing him for free next year.
Olympique Marseille @ 13.0 (12/1)
Olympique Marseille provided a good challenge to Paris Saint Germain last season in the league, but they fell off badly in the second half of the season, subsequently finishing third in the Ligue One. Since their league win in the 2009/10 season, Olympique Marseille has been on a title drought, and the closest they have come was a second-place finish. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Renan Lodi were good summer additions to the team, and they would fancy their chances of winning the Ligue One. Be sure to choose a betting site with highest odds.
AS Monaco @ 29.00 (28/1)
After finishing third in two consecutive seasons, AS Monaco failed to make the top three last year, and they will not be participating in the UEFA Champions League this season. The Red and Whites had a very good attack that scored 1.80 goals per game last season – a record that was only bettered by Paris Saint Germain. AS Monaco was hindered by defensive frailties last season, and they look to be fixing that problem in this window with three defensive signings joining the club.
Lille @ 31.00 (30/1)
A 1-1 draw away to Troyes FC on the last day of the season was enough for Lille to secure the last European spot in the Ligue One ahead of AS Monaco. The Mastiffs won the league as huge underdogs in the 2020/21 season, beating PSG to the title by one point on the final day. Christophe Galtier was responsible for that upset, and he joined PSG after his spell with Lille. Paulo Fonseca’s team has failed to finish in the top four since their triumph in 2021, but they have a team capable of making the Champions League group stages next year.
RC Lens @ 34.00 (33/1)
RC Lens ended their season with their heads held high after finishing second in the league and just one point behind the eventual winners, Paris Saint-Germain. The Blood and Gold had the lowest number of defeats in the Ligue 1 last year, with only four losses in 38 games. They had two wins less than PSG, and this is the closest they came to winning the league in the last decade. Franck Haise lost two important players in this window, with Seko Fofana going to Al Nassr FC and Lois Openda joining Leipzig.
Football Ligue One 2023-24 Format & Overview
The French LFP made some adjustments to the number of teams in the Ligue One, reducing the number of participants from 20 to 18 from the 2023/24 season. Each team would play 34 games in total, facing each other twice in home and away fixtures.
The top three teams in Ligue 1 qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with the top two teams moving directly to the group stage while the third-placed team enters the third qualifying round. The fourth-placed team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, the fifth for UEFA Europa Conference League. The bottom two teams are automatically relegated at the end of the season, while the 16th-place team enters the relegation playoffs.
History Of The Ligue 1
The Ligue 1 was introduced in 1932 as the National League but was later renamed ‘Division 1’ after one year of the competition. The French top flight One started with a 20-team format but has undergone many changes, and it now features an 18-team system. Olympique Lillois won the inaugural edition of this competition.
In 2002, the League changed its name from Division 1 to Ligue 1. Paris Saint Germain holds the record for most league titles in this competition with 11 wins to their name. St. Etienne has one less league title, but their last domestic victory was as far back as the 1980/81 season. Delio Onnis is the all-time top scorer in Ligue 1 with 299 goals in 449 games.
Last Five Winners
Paris Saint Germain has been very dominant in the last decade, and they are the current champions of the French Ligue 1. Lille and AS Monaco are the only teams to have beaten the Parisiens to the league in the last few years.

23/24 Ligue 1 Outright Winner Predictions
Paris Saint Germain To Win @ 1.29 (2/7)
1 (100%)
0
On paper, Paris Saint Germain still has one of the best teams in the world, and the brilliance of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr is enough to power them to their 12th Ligue One title. The Ligue One champions hired Luis Enrique, and he is one of the best coaches on the market. The Spaniard had a very successful spell at FC Barcelona, where he won the treble, something the PSG owners and fans desperately desire.
Even if the team loses Kylian Mbappe to one of the European or Arab clubs this summer, they have enough depth in the roster. With players like Lucas Hernandez and Manuel Ugarte joining the team, it would be difficult for any team to beat PSG to the league title this season.
Olympique Marseille To Win @ 13.00 (12/1)
0
(100%) 1
Olympique Marseille is building one of the best teams in the league, and they have already replaced the departing Dimitri Payet. Geoffrey Kondogbia and Amine Harit are great additions to the midfield, and with the team retaining their back line, they can do something special with the players available. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has won the golden boot in different countries, including the Premier League, and his quality can give Olympique Marseille a good shot at winning the Ligue One. The Olympians have finished in the top three for two consecutive years, and with PSG transitioning, this could be their chance to win the league.

Ligue One 23/24 Relegation Prediction
Brest FC To Be Relegated @ 2.63 (13/8)
1 (50%)
(50%) 1
Stade Brestois was one of the worst teams in the league last season, and it was a miracle that they escaped relegation. The Pirates lost 16 times in the league, but three wins from their last four matches were enough to keep them in the Ligue One for another season. With compact teams like Le Havre and Metz gaining promotion to the Ligue One, this might be the season that Brest FC gets relegated. There hasn’t been much transfer activity for the Pirates, and it would be very difficult for them to compete with the team available to Eric Roy.
Top-4 Prediction for 23/24 Ligue One
AS Monaco To Finish In The Top Four @ 2.20 (6/5)
3 (100%)
0
AS Monaco finished just three points outside the top four last season, and there was very little they could do due to injury problems in their final games of the season. The Red and Whites have strengthened their back line this summer with Mohamed Camara and Malang Sarr signing for the first team. Adolf Hütter’s team scored 70 goals last season, and if they can keep things tight at the back, which they have tried to address with key signings, a top-four finish should come easy for AS Monaco.
