The 2024/25 Eredivisie season starts on the 9th of August 2024 and ends next year on the 1st of June. Feyenoord, Ajax, and PSV Eindhoven are the big three touted to win the league, but we have exciting teams like FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar ready to pounce. The Dutch top flight features 18 teams with each side playing a total of 34 matches in the regular season. Apart from winning the league, there’s a lot to play for, with two European spots up for grabs and the weaker teams battling to avoid relegation ahead of the final phase next year.

PSV Eindhoven ended their four-year wait for a title last season, beating Feyenoord to the top spot by seven points. Peter Bosz is the man in charge of the team, and he lost only one game in the league last season, a 3-1 defeat away to NEC Nijmegen. Feyenoord has won one league title in the last 10 seasons of Dutch top-flight football but they are a force to reckon with in the last two editions. They won the league in the 2022/23 season and finished seven points behind PSV last term. Much of this success has been down to their former manager Arne Slot and Brian Priske has big shoes to fill in for the new season. Feyenoord lost only two games last season in very close defeats against PSV and FC Twente. Nevertheless, they have a good team, and they are second favorites to win the league, only behind PSV Eindhoven.
AFC Ajax @ 4.50 (7/2)
Ajax is the most successful team in the history of Dutch football and they are always among the top favorites to win the Eredivisie, but they need to catch up on the odds after a poor outing last year. The Godenzonen have been linked to some exciting names, and with Jordan Henderson joining the team, they have become a popular pick on the 24/25 Eredivisie season predictions. Ajax has won three league titles in the last five seasons, but they haven’t been in the top two for two consecutive years, and they will be looking to get back to their best under the new manager, Francesco Farioli.
AZ Alkmaar @ 17.00 (16/1)
AZ Alkmaar missed the Champions League spots last season, finishing four points outside the top three. The Cheese Farmers had a good first half of the season, and they were only one win away from reaching 20 league victories in the 2023/24 season. Winning the league ahead of Ajax, Feyenoord, or PSV is very difficult, but AZ is a favorite on the Dutch football 2024/25 season betting odds. Alkmaar has won the league title twice, with their latest trophy coming in the 2008/09 season. They hired a new coach this year and have a shot at another magical run in the 2024/25 season.
FC Twente @ 26.00 (25/1)
FC Twente makes the top five, but they remain underdogs on the season predictions for the Dutch Eredivisie 24/25. They are the last team outside the big three to win the league, winning their first-ever league title in 2010 under Steve McClaren. FC Twente suffered a lot of financial problems after their league triumph, but they are enjoying stability with three consecutive finishes in the top five. Another win for the Tukkers is unlikely, but you cannot rule them out after a third-place finish last season, enjoying wins against Feyenoord and Ajax.
There are 18 clubs in the Eredivisie season, and they face each other twice per season in home and away matches. At the end of the season, the top team is crowned champion, while the two lowest-ranking clubs are relegated to the Eerste Divisie. FC Volendam and Vitesse were automatically relegated after the 2023/24 season. The third-from-bottom club enters the relegation playoffs with six higher-ranked clubs from the lower division.
Dutch Football has gained some points on the UEFA coefficient, and the top two teams enter the Champions League group stage while the third-placed team enters the qualifying round. The fourth position is reserved for the Europa League qualifications, while the fifth to eighth teams will participate in the Conference League playoffs. Go Ahead Eagles qualified for European football for the first time in almost a decade after a ninth-place finish last season.
The KNVB is the organizing body in charge of the Eredivisie, which was founded in 1956 with eight teams competing for the title. Ajax won the inaugural edition and has racked up 36 titles in total, finishing as runners-up on 23 occasions. PSV is next on the list of teams with the most Eredivisie titles, winning the trophy 25 times, while Feyenoord has 16 top-flight trophies.

PSV lost their best player, Xavi Simmons, ahead of the 2023/24 season, but they showed great strength and character to win the league in good fashion. Not for the first time, the Red and Whites had a perfect record in the first half of the 23/24 season, winning all 17 games. PSV Eindhoven lost only one game last season and they were sitting comfortably at the top with almost no consequence for that defeat.
Peter Bosz has managed to retain his core while making good additions to the team, and they are a good pick for the Eredivisie title. Also, they have fewer problems than Feyenoord and Ajax, as both will start the season with new coaches and more uncertainty.

With Ajax not at the peak of their powers, Alkmaar can make a huge leap towards winning the title this term. They aren’t a top-three favorite, but coming off the back of a great season, they are worth a bet on the 24-25 Eredivisie predictions. Jeroen Zoet has been a very good addition for Alkmaar, and with over 300 appearances in the Eredivisie, he brings a lot to AZ’s backline. AZ Alkmaar were on course for a very good season, but they got hit by injuries last edition. With a better squad depth this term, they are a good bet for an upset win on the secure online betting sites. They will have even more realistic chances if PSV loses some of their key players, who shined last year and can move to the top Championships.

Despite a poor start to the 23/24 season, Ajax still got into the top five, and they have enough quality to secure a top-three finish this season.
