Premier League 2024-25 Relegation Format
There are 20 teams in a league season of the Premier League, and the last three teams at the end of the season are automatically relegated to the EFL Championship. Teams tied in the same number of points are graded with goal difference first, and then goal scored if they maintain a similar goal difference. If there is still no clear winner, a head-to-head record between such teams is applied and then away goals, with a potential playoff a last resort if they cancel out each other in the previous metrics.
2024–25 EPL Relegation Odds & Send-Off Favorites
The 2024-25 EPL Relegation odds are out on the football bookies in England, and the three new teams are top favorites to be relegated to the EFL Championship. Below, we take a look at the top picks to be relegated to the second tier of English football ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Leicester City F.C. @ 1.50 (1/2)
Leicester City have the smallest odds for a bet on Premier League 24/25 relegation, but they deserve better on the bookies after their fantastic campaign last year and a decent squad. The Foxes won the English Championship last season and they have been active in the summer window, with great additions like Bobby Reid from Fulham and Caleb Okolu from Atalanta. However, their head coach, Enzo Maresca, joined Chelsea and took one of the best EFL Championship players last season in the face of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. There are very few expectations for Leicester City to recreate their 2015/16, but they have a nice team to retain top-flight status despite the odds.
Ipswich Town @ 1.91 (10/11)
Ipswich Town’s magical run has seen them move from League One to the Premier League in just three years, and now they have to prove their worth in the top flight. Kieran McKenna has done an incredible job with the Tractor Boys, and he faces the biggest challenge of his career – keeping his team in the Premier League. The new manager looks determined to take Ipswich Town to another level, rejecting advances from top clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United.
Southampton F.C. @ 2.38 (11/8)
The Saints quickly returned to the English Premier League after their relegation in the 2022/23 season, where they ranked 20th on the final day of their campaign. Russell Martin has been in charge of the team for a year, earning his side a promotion after a 1-0 win over Leeds United in the playoffs final. Southampton is just behind Leicester and Ipswich Town on the 2024-25 EPL odds to be relegated, but their attack is well-stacked and offers some hope for the new season.
Nottingham Forest @ 3.50 (5/2)
Nottingham Forest won two of their last three Premier League games last season to finish six points above the drop zone. The Tricky Trees spent over €120m in transfer fees last term but failed to live up to standards, picking up only nine wins in 38 league games. Nuno Espirito took over as head coach last December and he will be judged in his first full season for the East Midlands team. Nottingham Forest makes it into the favorites to finish in the 24-25 English Premier League bottom 3.
Everton F.C. @ 4.00 (3/1)
Everton hit 40 points in a 1-0 win over Sheffield United last season, just before their final game of the season against Arsenal, but they also needed to overcome a point deficit after EPL penalties. This was their best point tally in the last three Premier League seasons, and they have often been involved in the relegation battles. The Toffees lost Amadou Onana to Aston Villa and are yet to replace the combative midfielder, with few weeks left to the start of the campaign. Sean Dyche led Everton away from the drop zone in 2023, and he will be tasked with guiding the Toffees to safety again, especially if they are shy on the transfer market after a few key losses.
24/25 Premier League Relegation Predictions
Bottom Three Finish – Nottingham Forest @ 3.50 (5/2)
3 (100%)
0
Since gaining promotion in the 22/23 season, Nottingham Forest has struggled in the Premier League, accumulating 38 points in 2023 and managing just 32 points last season. With this season’s league shaping up to be fiercely competitive, their prospects of returning to the Championship seem increasingly likely. The Tricky Trees managed just two victories in their final seven Premier League outings last season, and those wins were against relegated sides Burnley and Sheffield United. In the 23/24 campaign, Nottingham Forest suffered defeat in more than half of their matches, and with minimal changes to the squad, their future looks uncertain at best. A bet on Nottingham Forest to finish in the bottom three has good value on the 24/25 Premier League relegation predictions.
Bottom Three Finish – Everton @ 4.00 (3/1)
1 (33%)
(67%) 2
Everton has been hit with financial difficulties, and they risk losing Jarrad Branthwaite in addition to Amadou Onana, who joined Aston Villa. The team looks set to be depleted, and they were one of the lowest-scoring PL teams last season; things can go even worse if they sell Calvert-Lewin. Sean Dyche’s team netted 40 league goals, outscoring only Sheffield United in the 23/24 campaign. Defense has always been key for a manager like Sean Dyche, but with a weaker backline this season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them sink to the Championship. Backing the Toffees to be relegated has very big odds on betting sites in England, and they look worth a risk.
To Stay Up – Ipswich Town @ 2.20 (6/5)
0
(100%) 2
Football relegation betting isn’t just about the bottom-place prediction 2024/25 EPL season; it also offers odds on which teams will manage to stay up. Ipswich Town has been a revelation over the past two seasons, storming through League One and the Championship to reach the Premier League. Kieran McKenna has been a huge driving force behind this success, and they have an exciting core to hold down their spot for at least a season. Ipswich Town had the fewest defeats in the Championship last season, losing only six games, and they finished one point behind ultimate champions Leicester City.
