Short History and Importance of the CS:GO Majors

This will be the first and only time that a CS:GO Major has been played in Paris.

However, considering the gravity of this event, it’s worth noting the history of CS:GO Majors in general. For the past decade, ever since DreamHack Winter 2013, CS:GO Major Championships have been a staple in the Esports calendar and looked forward to by fans all over the world. Tens of millions of dollars in prize money have been given out, with Majors played from London to Rio de Janeiro and everywhere in between.

In terms of tournament structure, the first phase was the Challengers Stage, with eight Contenders and eight Challenger teams competing in a Swiss System format. With best-of-one matches, except for elimination and advancement matches that are best of three, the top eight teams advanced to the next phase, the Legends Stage. Here’s how the Challengers Stage finished for those aiming for a desired spot in Legends:

Group Challengers Stage Results at CS:GO Major 2023 Paris

In the Legends Stage, the eight teams that have moved through from the Challenger Stage then compete against eight ‘Legends’ – teams that earnt direct qualification due to their RMR results. A similar format is used in the Group Legends Stage, with the top eight teams moving through to a single elimination bracket Champions Stage to decide an overall winner.

2023 Paris Major Legend Stage Predictions

We’ve analyzed the BLAST Paris Major 2023 odds and come up with the top betting tips for CS:GO Major this week. Here are the three wagers we’d suggest placing on CS:GO’s last Major:

CS:GO BLAST Paris Major 2023 Betting Bonus

G2 Esports to Win @ 4.00 (3/1)

That’s right – a team from the Challengers Stage is going to go all the way in 2023. Despite G2 Esports failing to qualify directly for the Legends Stage of the Paris Major, we think they have what it takes to lift the trophy. In fact, playing the Challengers Stage could actually work in their favor.

G2 Esports easily navigated their way through the Challengers Stage 3-0 and have rekindled the form that they had earlier this year. With the exception of the ESL Pro League, they’ve looked sharp this year, coming out on top at the IEM Katowice 2023 and BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023, to go with their win at the end of 2022 in the BLAST Premier: World Final 2022.

With players like ‘hunter’ and ‘jks’ supporting stars like ‘NiKo’ and ‘m0NESY,’ we say G2 Esports are the best bet to win the CS:GO Paris 2023 Major.

Heroic to Make the Final @ 2.10 (11/10)

While G2 Esports should get the overall win, we predict Heroic will be the ones to give them a tough challenge in the final. It would be a painful loss for Heroic, considering they also came runners-up at the IEM Rio 2023 and the IEM Katowice 2023… And the IEM Rio Major 2022. Some would say they are due a win; others would say this is clearly a team that can’t get the job done under pressure, and history is due to repeat itself.

We’re of the opinion that the latter is true. Heroic have a good team and are likely to make a deep run here, but we just don’t see them having the finishing touch to beat a side like G2 Esports in the final.

9INE to Beat Team Liquid in First Group Match @ 1.80 (4/5)

For those who want to bet on CS:GO Major games, then the first up clash between 9INE and Team Liquid is looking like the most lucrative. The odds are tight here, with Team Liquid paying almost the same for a win themselves.

However, the fact that Team Liquid dropped matches to Apeks and FORZE Esports in the Challengers Stage is of concern. Liquid looked far from their best, something that 9INE is likely to take advantage of and come away victorious in this tight opener. The Polish squad showed great preparation for RMR, beating even G2 in the Bo1 match, which is mirrored in their recent odds against a heavyweight team.

Here are our top Paris Major 2023 Legends Stage predictions ahead of the final week of CS:GO’s last Major:

  • G2 Esports to Win @ 4.00 (3/1)
  • 9INE to Beat Team Liquid in First Group Match @ 1.80 (4/5)

It’s a fitting scene to farewell a fan-favorite game. Heading into the Legend Stage of the Paris Major 2023, a handful of teams look like strong contenders to win the title. While Heroic, FaZe, Team Vitality, and Natus Vincere will definitely give G2 Esports a run for their money. Our Esports betting prediction here will be that bookies’ favorites will come through here and claim the final Major in history.
