So without further ado, here are our Chelsea vs. Liverpool betting tips and predictions!

Liverpool to Score Under 1.5 Goals – 4/5

Even odds on Chelsea vs. Liverpool in the FA Cup final suggest that Liverpool should prevail in the Saturday clash; we expect it to be a back-and-forth affair. And you don’t have to look far to find evidence of that.

The previous 3 meetings between these 2 English football clubs ended in a draw. The latter of the 3 was a goalless stalemate in the Carabao Cup final in February, which eventually ended with penalties.

Still, it’s worth noting that Liverpool had almost double the shots on goal of Chelsea, and they kept Chelsea at only 2 corners over 120 minutes of play. If we check all 3 matches, Liverpool amassed 54 shots, which is impressive.

And if you combine that figure with Jurgen Klopp’s men converting 9.7% of their shots, you have a recipe for a match that could see Liverpool score a few goals. But it’s important to note that against Chelsea, Liverpool’s conversion rate drops to just 5.5%.

We don’t expect Liverpool to score too many goals, but they might find the back of the net once, particularly when Chelsea is the most vulnerable.

Liverpool to Win the Second Half – 5/4

Betting on which team will win a half is not as commonly used as there is rarely a good reason to do it. But the stats and data on Chelsea and Liverpool indicate that there is value in backing Liverpool to win the second half, so we have to explore alternative betting markets for our FA Cup final 2022 predictions.

We don’t need to talk about Liverpool’s ability to score goals, nor are we too interested in how Liverpool does in the first half compared to the second half. Rather we have to point out that Chelsea was particularly terrible in the second half.

The Blues have been in very shaky form, and their lack of success is mostly due to their inability to show up in the final 45 minutes. Of the last 15 conceded goals, all but 2 (13) happened in the second half. You don’t have to be an expert to see that Chelsea is vulnerable, but we’re still getting very generous odds on Liverpool to win the second half.

Ladbrokes, Coral and many other betting sites offer 5/4 on Liverpool to score a goal and win the second half, and the price is good enough for us to take the best.

Liverpool to Win in Extra Time – 10/1

William Hill offers 10/1 on Liverpool to win the match in extra time, which is a surprisingly good offer. As noted above, we don’t expect to see many goals, and even though Liverpool should be stronger in the second half, there is a good chance we might see the fixture enter extra time.

All of the last 3 head-to-head meetings between these 2 squads ended in a draw, and there is very little to suggest this one will end differently. So we should get a winner in either extra time or via penalties.

But as noted, Chelsea usually falls off later in the game, so if Liverpool fails to close it out in the final 45 minutes, they should be in an excellent spot to do it in extra time. It is more of a longshot bet than anything else, but at 10/1, it’s worth a shot.

Chelsea: A Rough Patch

Chelsea continues to demand respect as one of the top football teams globally, but the Blues are no longer the force they were throughout the latter half of the last term. Thomas Tuchel’s transformation that produced many highlights and incredible performances from his team took an immediate hold, and it’s becoming very evident that Chelsea is not the same squad that topped the table as recently as December.

It’s hard to say what is going wrong, but the results are not there. Before Chelsea’s trip to Elland Road this Wednesday, they have won only 2 games across the last 7 league fixtures. Even more concerning is that Chelsea has conceded, on average, 2.5 goals per game over that stretch.

Chelsea needs to work on a lot of things, but one of the most glaring weaknesses is their second-half performance, which highlights the team’s psychological frailty. As noted above, Chelsea has conceded 13 of their last 15 goals in the second half, and if they don’t improve in that department, they will be in for a tough 90 minutes this weekend.

That issue was not notable in Chelsea’s late collapse against Wolves last weekend, which further emphasizes something is not right. Moreover, the sanctions that hit the club don’t help the cause.

The team’s star goalscorer Romelu Lukaku‘s performances perfectly illustrate Chelsea’s state. He has not been in the best form and has scored just one more goal than midfielder Jorginho.

Last 5 Games

  • Leeds 0-3 Chelsea
  • Chelsea 2-2 Wolves
  • Everton 1-0 Chelsea
  • Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea
  • Chelsea 1-0 West Ham

Liverpool: Nearing a Historic Season

Liverpool has a lot on its plate as we get closer to the end of the 2022 season. Most notably, they still need to face off against Real Madrid in the Champions League finals, and that will require a lot of fortitude, especially considering how good Real Madrid has proven to be.

Meanwhile, in the Premier League, Liverpool’s disappointing draw with Tottenham at the weekend means the Reds have no more margin for error in the season’s final 3 games. Still, those are things Liverpool can focus on after this weekend, as they first need to set their eyes on the FA Cup, which is within their reach and Chelsea as the only team standing in their way to the silverware.

Liverpool is rightly priced as the favourites as they are shaping up to be the best football club of the year. But while they’re expected to defeat Chelsea and claim the FA Cup, the Reds will have to find a way to get past Edouard Mendy, who has been outstanding of late.

Chelsea vs Liverpool – Bonus Prediction

The last 3 meetings between Chelsea and Liverpool ended in a draw. Still, in February’s finals, Chelsea had better chances, with Mason Mount missing 2 golden opportunities, whereas Lukaku got denied a goal by VAR.

This time out, we can expect Tuchel to field Mount, Kai Havertz, and Christian Pulisic in the front, hoping the trio can create enough pressure to crack Liverpool’s defence as they all 3 have before. Mount, Havertz, and Pulisic are all more than capable of finding the back of the net this weekend, but of the 3, Pulisic looks like the perfect candidate to do so.

Online sports betting sites have Pulisic to score a goal (anytime) priced as high as 7/2, which seems way too generous in our book. A fun side bet at a high payout, Pulisic to score against Liverpool is a wager worth looking at.

Prediction: Christian Pulisic to score (anytime) – 7/2
