India Open 2024 Badminton Odds & Favorites

Ahead of our badminton India Open 2024 betting tips, let’s dig into who’s most likely to win this tournament. While bookmakers in India are not offering outright 2024 India Open badminton odds this week, here’s a look at the top five seeds in each event:

Men’s Singles Favorites

  • Viktor Axelsen (Denmark – withdrew)
  • Kodai Naraoka (Japan)
  • Li Shifeng (China)
  • Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (Indonesia)
  • Jonatan Christie (Indonesia)

With Viktor Axelsen withdrawing from yet another big event, Kodai Naraoka becomes the man to beat in New Delhi. Just behind him in the seeding is Li Shifend from China, who is on the move up the men’s rankings, while Indonesia pair Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie round out the top seeds in the men’s singles event.

Women’s Singles Favorites

  • An Se-young (South Korea)
  • Chen Yufei (China)
  • Akane Yamaguchi (Japan)
  • Tai Tzu-ying (Chinese Taipei)
  • Carolina Marin (Spain)

The 2024 India Open is the first event in some time where we have the full quota of women’s seeds competing. An Se-young from South Korea heads up the pack, with Chen Yufei hot on her tail as the second seed. Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi comes in as the third seed, ahead of Tai Tzu-ying and Carolina Marin, who wrap up the women’s singles top seeds.

Understanding the BWF 2024 India Open

The India Open has been running since 1973, with this marking the 20th edition over the past 51 years. However, in 2008, the event received a significant boost when it became part of the BWF World Tour. Over the years, it has steadily been promoted from a Grand Prix Gold event to a BWF Superseries tournament, then a Super 500 event. In 2023, it became a BWF World Tour Super 750 event, with a prize pool of $850,000 on the line.

Badminton 2024 India Open Predictions

We’ve broken down the latest badminton odds and come up with the top three predictions to make this week. Here are the best ways to bet on the 2024 India Open, based on the 2024 BWF World Tour odds we’ve found:

Kenta Nishimoto to Beat Guang Zu Lu @ 1.83 (5/6)

Both of these players have had patchy form the past six months, which is why bookies have given odds of 1.83 (5/6) either way on this match. We say it will be Kenta Nishimoto who takes out this tight first-round encounter, however, simply because of his recent head-to-head edge of Guang Zu Lu.

Nishimoto impressed in Hong Kong and Denmark, where he made the final and quarter-finals, respectively. He beat Guang Zu Lu at the former event, and while he’s had two first-round stumbles since then, we expect he’ll rekindle form and knock over the Chinese player once more.

Fang Jie Gao to Beat Tai Tzu-ying @ 7.50 (13/2)

Surely, this is a typo, right? Not at all – we truly believe this will happen. It may seem like the most bizarre pick of the lot, but predicting upsets always seems crazy until they happen, especially on the high-odds bookies. Tai Tzu-Ying has made three consecutive finals, winning the BMF World Tour Finals and coming runner-up at the French Open and Malaysia Open. However, there’s a reason the Chinese Taipei player is ranked world No. 4 and isn’t sitting at the top of the pack. In the past, she’s struggled to maintain consistency after a good string of results.

This pick is less about Fang Jie Gao and more about Tai Tzu-ying. We say she’ll have an off day as she has in the past, and that will lead to an upset. While Gao is coming into this clash off the back of multiple first-round exits, she does have the ability to beat top players, as she showed against P.V. Sindhu last year. Take this wager, and stand to benefit from a significant 7.50 (13/2) payout if we’re right on this one.
