Amir Khan vs Kell Brook Betting Tips & Predictions

Learn how to bet on boxing online and all the information you’ll need to know before placing a bet with the Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook odds on the upcoming boxing spectacle.

Two old foes in Amir Khan and Kell Brook will clash in the ring on Saturday, February 19, in Manchester, England, after the 2 fighters were calling each other out for almost a decade. As both are nearing the end of their careers, the upcoming fight might be one of their last chances to make a splash in the boxing scene, and likely the first and final time the 2 will meet.

But who will come out ahead in the upcoming boxing spectacle, and who has a better chance to prove he is the complete fighter? We’ll answer that and more in our betting preview, where we check the Khan vs. Brook odds and provide you with 3 betting picks courtesy of our boxing betting expert.

Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook Odds

The UK bookmakers have Amir Khan priced as an 11/8 underdog for this bout and the former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook as a 4/7 favourite. The offered odds make sense if we consider that Brook has more professional fights under his belt and is also the former champion.

Still, the 2 British welterweight rivals don’t seem to be that fat apart talent-wise, and it’s more than fair to say that Brook, while a more accomplished fighter, isn’t as good as he once was. Furthermore, while you can easily find arguments in favour of Brook, the more you look at how these fighters like to fight, the more it becomes clear that if the favourite doesn’t stop Khan early, the latter might cause an upset.

It provides us with an excellent live betting opportunity, so make sure that you have access to a live stream of the bout.

Head-to-Head: Khan vs. Brook

Amir Khan and Kell Brook have no previous head-to-head bouts, even though they have changed plenty of verbal punches over the last few years. So while this is not a rematch of a battle prior, the rivalry between the 2 fighters is fierce, adding another layer of excitement.

While we have no previous head-to-head numbers to work with, we know that Brook promised to flatten “Bambi on ice” while Khan told everyone he would “destroy” his jealous rival, which he “schooled” as an amateur.

Amir Khan Form

The 2004 Olympic Games silver medalist, Amir Khan, made his pro debut in 2005, won the WBA light-welterweight title in 2009, but lost it to Danny Garcia in 2012.

He has since competed for multiple titles but failed to achieve much success in any bouts. He lost to Canelo Alavez for the WBC middleweight title in 2016 and Terance Crawford for the WBO welterweight title in 2019. His last fight was a TKO win against Billy Dib in July 2019.

While Khan’s last fight took place nearly 3 years ago, he still boasts impressive career stats. He has won 34 of his 39 career fights, of which 21 ended with a KO.

Kell Brook Form

Kell Brook made his pro debut in 2004 and made a name for himself ten years later in 2014 when he won the IBF welterweight title against Shawn Porter. Two years later, he tested his luck against Gennadiy Golovkin for the WBC, IBF, and IBO welterweight titles in 2016 but lost the bout via TKO.

Brook made a comeback a year later, in 2017, only to lose against Errol Spence Jr. In May, losing his IBF title.

Unfortunately, Brook lost his IBF title and was handed a devastating defeat against Golokvin, but the injuries he suffered in the bouts affected his career after. The 35-year-old took some time off to recover and returned to produce a 3-fight win streak, only to go down to Crawford via TKO in his last fight in November 2020.

Over his boxing career, the former champion has fought 42 bouts and triumphed in all but 3 (39-3), with 27 KO wins.

Khan Advantages over Brook

Khan is an elite-level boxer, and even though he is priced as an underdog, it’s hard to look past Khan’s impressive record. Admittedly he struggled to come back from back-to-back defeats against Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia in the early 2010s. Still, he silenced all the doubters when he went on a 5-fight win streak, which ended in 2016 with a KO against Canelo Alvarez.

Still, we wouldn’t overreact to that defeat. Khan fought exceptionally well, and at the end of the day, he lost against a fighter who has held world titles at 4 weights, from light-middle to light-heavy. But admittedly, that bout happened 6 years ago, and some may argue that a more accurate indication of Khan’s ability is his defeat against Crawford in 2019.

If we look past Khan’s past results and focus on his strengths, Khan has some advantages compared to Brook.

He has a longer reach by 2 inches and has much faster hands. Admittedly, his chin vulnerability will always be there, but Khan can outwork Brook and catch him out if he does have him hurt.

Brook’s Advantages over Khan

Brook has a better record than Khan and has won 27 of his 39 pro wins by knockout. Furthermore, he has been beaten only 3 times to Khan’s 5.

Talking about past fights, one of Brook’s losses also came against Crawford (2020) when the latter got better in the 4th round. If we take that bout in the context of Khan’s 6th-round defeat against Crawford, the result suggests that there isn’t much to separate Brook and Khan.

Still, we can’t look past the fact that Brook won against Michael Zerafa, Frankie Gavin, and Shawn Porter in the past, suggesting that when Brook is on, he is very difficult to beat.

It’s worth noting that Brook is taller than Khan, but only by 1cm, which is a negligible difference. Other than that, Brook is a stronger puncher, but again, we have to take that with a grain of salt since we only have information from years back to work with.

Khan vs. Brook Predictions & Tips

With all the basic information about the fighters out of the way, let’s focus on the Khan vs. Brook betting predictions and our top picks for the upcoming spectacle.

Khan to Win (11/8)

The determined Brook is expected to defeat Khan, but we believe the sportsbooks have made a mistake setting the Khan vs. Brook betting odds. You will see many betting tips that will favour the latter, simply because he is the wagering favourite, but is Brook worth a bet at the offered odds?

In our book, the answer is no. There is nothing that would warrant a bet on Brook at 4/7, and there isn’t much to suggest he is truly a better fighter. He might be taller, have a better record, and Brook could easily take advantage of Khan’s weak chin, but realistically Khan has the tools to fight against that.

We would side with Brook no question asked had this fight taken place a few years back. But looking at the weekend bout, it seems much closer to 50/50, so we have to side with the outsider for our Khan vs. Brook winner prediction.

Draw (16/1)

For those looking for a higher payout and are ready to risk some pocket change on higher odds, a draw is one of the more appealing bets you could make.

Both fighters have been out of the ring for a long time, and while the bookies seem to believe Brook should close it out quickly, we can imagine a world where we see no winner on Saturday. It would truly be a result worthy of a movie, prolonging this lucrative feud further.

It is a fun side bet and just a bonus pick for our Khan vs. Brook betting tips. Still, considering both fighters are nearing the end of their careers and are not as good as they were at their peak, a draw seems like a real possibility.

Khan by Decision or Technical Decision (7/2)

Everyone wants to see a boxing match end in a KO, and so do we, but as already alluded to, Khan and Brook are no longer as good as they were back in the day. Furthermore, we can be sure that both took their time to prepare for this bout, so each fighter should know all of his opponent’s strengths and weaknesses.

As a result, they should know how to approach this fight without risking too much, and you can be certain that neither can afford to be humiliated with a KO. Expecting we won’t see hard-hitting punches between 2 fighters that won over half of their bouts with a KO seems like wishful thinking, but as noted, they’re no longer in their prime form.

Time and Date of the Event

Amir Khan will fight Kell Brook on Saturday, February 19, from inside the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The evening will begin at around 6 pm GMT.

If you want to watch the fight live, you’re out of luck. Tickets for the event sold out in just 10 minutes back in December, highlighting how much interest the boxing fans have in this rivalry bout. Still, you can tune in via any sporting channels or by watching a live stream of the fight via any prominent streaming platform.

Final Words – Khan vs. Brook Winner Prediction

At first glance, Brook seems like a better pick, but all things considered, this is a 50/50 bout, so we have to view Khan as a better bet. Brook has achieved more over his career, but most of his success came years back, so it’s hard to overvalue his past achievements.

Furthermore, Brook’s main strength was his timing, accuracy, and ability to finish his opponents in one punch. Now the question is whether he still has that? And the answer is likely no. We’re ready for Brook to prove us wrong and show that he is still an elite-level boxer, but at 35 years, we expect a slower version of the former champion.

That concludes our free boxing betting preview for the upcoming spectacle. Providing you with 3 excellent picks, you’re now ready to visit the best boxing sportsbooks and place your bets!
