Lottoland Deutschland has been granted a German license from the nation’s lottery brokerage, allowing the operator to distribute online state-licensed lottery games as a broker. Consequently, Lottoland Deutschland will be placed on the whitelist of companies authorized to do so by the Joint Gambling Authority of the German federal states (GGL).
The company is also expected to receive additional licenses that will permit it to offer online sports betting and slot machine games in Germany.
Magnus von Zitzewitz, Managing Director of Lottoland Deutschland, commented on the license approval:
We are delighted that our license application has finally been approved by the Joint Gaming Authority of the German federal states after intensive examination by the federal states.
This news comes despite the GGL’s calls in October to block access to Lottoland Group websites in the nation. The authority had requested several payment providers to “terminate cooperation” with Lottoland.
Lottoland operates in numerous jurisdictions. Recently, a survey conducted by Ireland Thinks on behalf of the company in November revealed that 75% of those surveyed in Ireland were against banning gambling, as proposed by the Gambling Regulation Bill 2022.
Additionally, Lottoland received a non-exclusive keno license from the Victoria State Government in early 2022, alongside Tabcorp.
More recent developments include Lottoland’s partnership with HabitRewire. In June, the company provided its staff access to a range of HabitRewire iGaming wellbeing tools and resources.
