Liverpool Previous Results

  • Liverpool 3-1 Leicester City, third round
  • Bournemouth 1-2 Liverpool, fourth round
  • Liverpool 5-1 West Ham United, quarter-finals
  • Liverpool 3-2 Fulham (aggregate), semi-finals

Liverpool are the favourites to win the EFL Cup final. They beat Chelsea to lift the trophy two years ago and are currently top of the Premier League. The Reds are one of the strongest sides in Europe on their day and it is instructive that they have amassed 25 more points than Chelsea in the top flight.

On the other hand, Liverpool have some injury problems to contend with: Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez will probably all be absent this weekend. When fit, at least four of those players would be guaranteed a place in the starting XI.

There is still hope that Salah and Nunez will be fit to feature in some capacity, but Liverpool will not be at full strength.

Chelsea Previous Results

  • Chelsea 2-1 Wimbledon, second round
  • Chelsea 1-0 Brighton & Hove Albion, third round
  • Chelsea 2-0 Blackburn Rovers, fourth round
  • Chelsea 1-1 Newcastle United (4-2 penalties), quarter-finals
  • Middlesbrough 2-6 Chelsea (aggregate), semi-finals

Chelsea have had a difficult season up to now. They sit 10th in the Premier League and are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top three. The best the Blues can realistically hope for from this point is Europa League qualification.

But their chances on Sunday should not be dismissed out of hand. Chelsea have shown signs of improvement of late, not least in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City last time out. They tend to play better against the bigger teams, avoiding defeat in five of seven matches against the current top five – City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

Still, Chelsea lost 4-1 to Liverpool just last month and they will have their work cut out at Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are justifiably underdogs.

Betting With Cash Out

You do not have to wait until full-time to see if your bet is successful. Every major bookmaker offers a cash out option, which allows punters to settle their wager before their final whistle.

So, if you tipped Chelsea to win and they are 1-0 up but under pressure, you could cash out your bet to receive some sort of pay-out.
